Irishbroadband and a wireless router

Thanks for any help in advance!!

I bought a Belkin ADSL router yesterday but my cable from the wall, which I think has a rj45 plug doesn't fit in to the dsl input socket on the unit (unit has one inlet for dsl and four for computers (Rj45??)). However if I plug the cable from the wall (via the little box thingy from Ibb) in to one of the computer sockets on the router and then to my laptop, I still have broadband. So that's OK.

My question is about setting up wireless. My laptop has a built in wireless receiver. When I follow the instructions for router set up I need to go to http://192.168.2.1 and follow the setup wizard there but I don't know what any of these setting should be PPPoE, PPPoA, etc.

Can anybody tell me what these should be?

Do I need to get all this information from IBB??

You shouldn't have bought an ADSL router, just a router. I'll post something more helpful shortly!

Just an ordinary wireless router? I bought it in argos coz I wasn't looking for anything fancy but they only seemed to have ASDL ones.

Yep they should have left you a static ip address, gateway, subnet mask etc when they installed system.

Ok I'm back online and thanks for the help all. Only took me three days to get hold of tech support on Ibb. Got all the relevent info from ibb and guess what? IT WAS WRONG!! still wouldn't work. I noticed that my IP address and Gateway mask were almost the same so I took the extra digit off the first part of the gateway mask and now it all seems to work fine. (by the way I didn't get any of these addresses when the guy installed IBB).

I'm almost afraid to set up the wireless router now in case I make a bags of it again though.

Ya it will, it works for me.

All you gotta do is set the wireless router to (AUTO) DCHP and enter the settings IBB gave you the ie IP Address gateway n all that.
