Ok Voodoo you know that J-Custom you showed earlier from the Ishibashi Ubox. I cant find it on the site. Got a link? Is it an RG1702 by any chance? How much is it going for on Ishibashi because I have one from another site at what seems a pretty cheap price. This is the spec of the one I'm looking at

Body : Flamed Maple Top / Mahogany Back
Neck : 3pcs Maple (Bolt On)
    Fingerboard : Rosewood (24Frets)
Scale Length : 25-1/2 inch (Long)
    Bridge : Ibanez Lopro-Edge
    P.U. : DiMarzio DP-193/Air Nortn (Front) & DP-155/The Tone Zone (Rear)
    Control : 1Volume‚ 1Tone‚ 5way-SW

So can you give me any more info on that one you posted earlier. The one I'm looking at is even the same colour. lol

    Let me know thanks

Voodoo, if you get another J Custom before all of us have at least one each you will be hunted down, do you understand? ;)

    I'm not jealous, honest :(

I know the one youre looking at, its in ikebe-gakki yes? They seem to have gotten in a few of those similar models 2 weeks ago. The one your looking at is one of the early 'production' J-customs (production as in some of the very earliest JCs were RG-ARTs and the like, check the ibanez register if you want to see waht i mean). The one your looking at dates from the late 90's i would guess, between say 96-00. Those ones were very highly regarded, and in particular had excellent maple tops. These ones are super-super rare, much rarer than the JC's of today, at that stage Ibanez didnt make a lot of them, and they certainly did find their way overseas like they do now.

The one i posted a pic of was a different model designation, but more or less the same guitar, just from around 02/03. Its about 30,000Yen more expensive than the RG1702. Its mine though, your not getting it.... :p:p

during my stay on boards this is what has happened
    Pre boards:
I have never played a Tokai and was sceptical of copys
I hated Ibanez and they were on the bottom of my list
    Post boards:
    I am ordering a tokai ls85q
    I am gassing for a J custom

    ....thanks.......

Just as an addendum, the RG1702 was made in 97 and 98, while im spouting info on it, i might as well make sure its right... :D

Nothing shows up a killer flame top, Karl, like a none-more-black finish... :p

Seriously though, that black finish looks the sh*ts with a maple fingerboard, its a pity none of the current JCs have a maple fingerboard option.

This finish wouldnt be to your liking obviously Karl, but theres something about Ibanez's with maple that makes me fell all funny inside.. ;)

Yes it was the few from Ikebe. That one was a 97 Custom. It's only €515 before shipping :(

    I need money fast :(

They have quite a few of them pretty cheap actually. Not mad about the gold one. Anyone ever ordered from Ikebe before?

I played one of the Prestige Ibanez's in Music Maker or whatever it's called and I really wasn't that impressed. Then I played Karl Hungus's 7 string and it was a nice guitar but that still didn't do anything special for me. I'd wonder about buying a J-Custom.

Well, they're just prestiges that are a bit better, better fret/neck treatment, woods etc. Fundamentally, theyre the same as a prestige, so if you dont like them you're not going to like a JC. Thats a bit of a no-brainer...

Most J-custom owners would be players whove been using Ibanez's for years and are just after something that little bit more special...Similarly, youd never buy a private stock PRS if you didnt like the regular ones, or youd never buy a fender custom shop if you didnt like the feel of a strat...

I remember my first electric. A good ol Ibanez SA160. Lol. Was actually a great guitar to start off on. Fast enough neck and got some really heavy sounds I was after with a metal zone, os2 and an octave pedal. Had to sell it then to get the Les Paul but another Ibanez will be making its way back into my hands when I get some money and after I get a new acoustic

So thats an Ibanez J-Custom, a McIlroy or similar acoustic and a Strat on the list
