I am trying to configure a router to connect to Irish Broadband as I now have two computers in the house an I want them both to be able to connect to the internet at the same time wireless. I have to configure the VCI and VPI numbers in the router but I've no idea what to use. Can anybody help me with this ?

Thanks for that, I'll try when I get home. I don't really know what I'm doing to be honest so I might need some more help which would be greatly appreciated....

Hi there, are you sure you're trying to configure a wireless router, and not a wireless DSL modem / router? I use Irish Broadband and I have never had to set up any VCI or VPI parameters - as far as I know they aren't present on plain wireless routers. They are, however, necessary parameters to set up DSL broadband connections - but Irish Broadband isn't a DSL service.

What you need to use is something like the Linksys WRT54G router. The cable that Irish Broadband install (RJ45 ethernet) plugs directly into this router and from there you can set up wireless connections etc.

It sounds like you have a DSL modem/router, which as far as I know is of no use for an Irish Broadband connection (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). What I think you need is this or this or this for example - but please make sure for yourself that this is exactly what you need.

    Michael
