    Anyone getting one for christmas?

ROY KEANE has finally been immortalised in a Star Wars type action figure. The figure is part of the Kick-O-Mania collection which will be available in Irish toyshops in time for the shopping surge at Christmas.

The Manchester United idol agreed to go into a studio to have the exact dimensions of his head scanned from all sides after the club decided Bandai Toys could create four of its stars as action figures for the international dream team.

Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Keane became the chosen ones and the action figures retailing at around €19 were unveiled in Dublin yesterday as part of a range of new Power Rangers, Pokeman and Captain Scarlet products.

After six months of adjusting the Manchester United captain's image on a computer screen, transforming the computer model into a mini head made from plastic and ensuring that all his limbs are working, Roy Keane had to approve the finished product, according to Darrell Jones of Bandai Toys.

"We send the figures to all the players so they can decide if they are a good or bad likeness. Some players thought their figure's appearance was more beautiful than their real selves . . . Roy Keane was very happy with it," said Mr Jones.

He added that "some players have seen the figures and have been asking why they aren't available as a Kick-O-Mania figure".

In a long list of signings to the Kick-O-Mania range, Keane will appear alongside the likes of Oliver Kahn of Bayern Munich and Alessandro Del Piero of Juventus.

Goal equipment sets, playmats and footballs are also available in the range so that a game between the giants of soccer can be truly recreated.

The catalogue which accompanies each of the action figures even shows you how to "warm up" the football stars with Keane choosing an exercise to strengthen his shoulders and thighs, Van Nistelrooy posing in a "hurdle position" and Ronaldo stretching his thighs for 30 seconds. All of this is achieved by simply tugging at the players' fully mobile limbs.

Each of the players are kitted out in their replica team kits and attached to platforms. By simply pulling the back of Roy Keane's leg and pushing a button on his back, he should with the operator's perfect aim and patience hit the ball into the net.

Negotiations are still on-going with other Premiership clubs in an effort to secure other big name signings such as Robbie Keane and Damien Duff in time for the Christmas market, with the hope of World Cup appearances in 2006.

After six months of adjusting his image you'd think he wouldn't be so ugly ;)

I remember Diadora (his boots sponsor at the time) had an advert in soccer/ bloke mags a few years ago with an Action-Man style box of a Roy Keane doll.
The plastic outer cover on the box had a gap at his knee and a caption "press his knee to hear him growl".
    Was a class ad :D

The above figures look crap tbh and I guess only die-hard fans who've nothing else better to do but buy anything with their clubs name/crest on it will like them.

I wonder if David Busst will get one so he can snap Roys legs this time :D
