    Howdy Folks,

This girl that I have fallen for big time has moved to Mayo on me and I was thinking of driving up to Mayo some Friday morning to surprise her and give her a lift back home to Dublin.

I would be hoping to get to Mayo (Castlebar) by about 12pm and would be leaving between 1pm-2pm to make the trip back to Dublin.

How long we talking here? Too long for it to be worth it for a woman??

    Thanks for your help

Depends what part of Mayo and what part of Dublin you are travelling too.
Generally I'd give myself four hours from Dublin City center to Castlebar...... other parts of both counties vary.
I do know that you can do Dublin to Charlestown in Mayo in about three hours in perfect conditions.
Four is an absolute max-barring any disasters along the way.

Thanks for that! Well I will be travelling from Castleknock so I guess I will take the M50 from Blanch. I aint sure what part of Castlebar the college is at.

So you reckon 4 hrs both ways??

Considerin I rarely drive anywhere outside Dublin on my own as I am scared ****less drivin in places I don't know it may take me a little longer as I wont know the way.

don't worry ...it'll be easier coming back ...Dublin is signposted from everywhere in the country (which can't be said about Cashelbear) :D:D:D

Four hours should easily do it ...even allowing for a short wee-wee break

she must be REALLY worth it .... if your not used to the roads to get to castle bar your talking about 4 hours plus. The worst thing you can do is give youself a deadline so say lunch time and work at getting there for 12 - 12:30, better late than never is my motto. and if you arrive at 12:30 you'll get BJ points also. enjoy the spin up, its a nice drive.

Well I didn't go this morning in the end. I am considering doing it next Friday. Will see how it goes! I was hoping to print out the route planner from the AA site so I know exactly where I am going but it is down at the moment.

She is worth it but I will have to sus out this weekend whether or not I stand a chance.

Stand a chance of what? Making it to Castlebar or making it out with this girl?

Best of luck with it but if she wants you badly enough, she'll come running to you. :p:D

Making it with her, she is home for weekend. We are going for dwinks tommorrow nite. I will sus it out then. If I think I got a chance or I am drunk enough to make a move I will then embark on the adventure I've leaving the Pale in my little car and making the long and dangerous journey to Mayo.

    AA Route Planner ??

Jeez ...you're not heading into the jungle ...

Cashelbear is the county capital, after all ...they got actual MAIN roads leading there.

N4 Direction Sligo out of Dublin, take a left at Longford, signposted Westport / Castlebar.

    Dubs ....

Don't forget to bring your compass and you Bowie-knife :D
