Oh my god, when I saw that its only 36 weeks away, I was really shocked but I suppose thats quite a long time.

I'm doing Religion for the JC as well, I don't know if it'll be hard or not

yeh, it sounds close, but seems to be quite far away, but b4 u know it, it will b next week. religion isnt that hard. i didnt study 4 it at all, and i got a b :D

and don`t worry about the rest of your exams either, they arent all that hard

Religion is a pretty handy exam, in the Mocks I got 68% I think, but in the Junior I managed to bullsh*t my way through it and got an A! Make sure to spend a bit of time on the Project part though, its worth one-fifth of the marks, although its pretty easy.

Dunno what religion will be like. I don't have to do it as an exam subject-if i did i'd fail. i got 53% in my summer exam :o my friend is doing it though and she says its quite easy.

Hope so I got 100% in my christmas test coz the teacher was crap and we only did like 8 chapters in a year

Religion is so easy! I have my JC this year and Im not gonna even study for religion. Its handy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

It doesn't matter how good your project is (Mine is leaving Cert standard according to my Religion teacher) you have to write it up well. The Department of Education never see the actual project so all they have to mark it on is the booklet where you write about it, so with the right words/bull****e, you can get full marks for the worst of projects.

I'm doing my JC this year and my dad just got me the past exam papers today, I nev0r realised how difficult some of them actually are....

erm the sheet tht you get to write it out on IS your project....
its exactly the same as your action project. They give you 10 A4 pages to write about it writing under different questions about the project
your school picks a topic from the official JC list for 2006

I'm doing jc this year too. Not looking forward 2 it would 1 way of putting it!Don't have to do religion as an exam in my school but my parents are making me do french as an extra subject so I have to do 11 subjects anyway. Is it just me or what is the point in doing cspe I have more religion classes than cspe fgs!

Don't worry, by Third Year, our class hadn't even finished out firstyear book, and we spent about 5days with the project, and most of us got As!

My RE teacher said that RE is as hard as Honours English in the JC.

And no, in response to previous poster, the project is a thing you do on a particular subject and you write about it on an A2/A3 page with pictures and stuff, the Department of Education never see this so it doesn't matter how good you do it, but what they do mark you on is the Report which I believe is 9 pages and you basically write about what you did on the project

We never even bothered writing it up on posters, all you really need to do is fill up the Report with pretentious crap TBH!

I made up almost everything on my action project report. Just act like you did lots of very impressive stuff!

In my opinion, Religion is a hard exam to sit. The questions are very hazy if you know what I mean, you're not really sure what they're looking for.
But, that said, I think the examiners correcting the test are aware of this and can sometimes see where you're coming from, if you came at the question from a different perspective.

Also, I don't think you should be too worried about the amount of space they leave you to fill in your answer. I only half filled in the spaces and I got an A :D

dont you realise 36 weeks is like 9 months away???? stop stressing over nothing, its not as bad as you think, and i know everyone says this, but it really doesnt matter that much. work for likr english, irish maths and your language, and maybe science if you plan on doing 1 for the LC

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

Did you have this attitude this time last year, Coconutmonkey?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,479 ✭✭✭✭philologos

I took it very relaxed but then when it came to exam times (mocks and jc) I knuckled down 2 weeks before each and i came out doing well enough

How? You learn about other Religions, the Bible, history of the Church and all that. It's good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,479 ✭✭✭✭philologos

Religion surprisingly does demand more work than CSPE.
(its also being added to the Leaving Cert too)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭Diarmsquid

A lot of professions need Religion.
    Like a priest :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

    Yep. Priests and... nuns... and..........
Yeah, that's it. Maybe if you wanted to be a theology lecturer. But even then, you could probably just study it in college.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

The class gives me a chance to do the homework I hadn't done for my next class.

I have to do religion for the jc and I think I'm gonna find it hard cause I had a really bad teacher last year.We have to do 2 years of work in one this year. It`s gonna be kinda tough.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,479 ✭✭✭✭philologos

trust me it isnt tough but you need to write fast ;) if you do you will be fine,
and look on the internet about Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu or Islamic culture in detail and learn it for the exam then you will be fine ;)
