Simple and easy to use program called 'Irfanview' would do the job for you. you can re-save the image in any format, such as jpeg which will vastly reduce size.

Also has a resize function to make the image smaller.

    Linkies

    http://www.irfanview.com/ home site

    downloads
    Irfanview Main Program

    and you'll also need this

    Irfanview Plugins

Install the main program - then the plug ins. Watch what file associations you allow it to set by default. I only select images though it will play nearly all audio and movie formats - amongst other things, like batch thumbnails, batch resize..

Just about the best free lightweight (But bloody powerful!) image manipulator and media player I know of. Very handy tool ;)

    :)

irFanView will let you do a batch conversion, so you can pick all the photos you want to upload, pick your options and do them all in one go.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Picasa. It's a great little photo tool. Get it from http://picasa.google.com/index.html
