    Hi all,
I have a cousin going 16 next month. He has already bought a moped. He just wants to know roughly how much it will cost to tax and insure.

He is 16. Lives in Navan. The moped is an 01.
So if you could give me a rough estimate, so he can start saving. Will it be more than a €1000

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure how much but it's easy to find out.
Just walk into any delaer and they will have a booklet for AON/AXA and give you a quote from that.

Not sure what other insurers are in the market.

Was €543 for me, and I'm 24 with a full car licence so if a 16yo I'd imagine 1000 wouldn't be far wrong

    I'd say it will be about €2000 - €2500!

sorry to correct you Rick , but it is actually 16 for a scooter. Insurance is likely to be €2000 upwards for someone that age on a scooter. Is he actually driving the scooter he bought at the moment ?.

Im a culchie so I dont know if his address is within what the insurers call the Dublin area, which costs heaps more than the rest of the country. As has been said, phone a few insurers. I still reckon over a grand in the cheaper insurance zone, and maybe double that for Dublin. Ages since I checked rates though.

On the plus side, the tax is €41.00 and the scooter should be cheap to run.

    Serious Bump here!

Im 19, nearly 20 and have a full clean drivers licence.
Am buying a 50cc Aprila Moped.
Any ideas what sort of price I could get for insurance and who would be the best company to go for?

    cheers.
