Is cable available?, is it free?
    (short and sweet.)

  • Yes it's available and yes it's free (well it's included in the astronomical rent)

Is it not only ****ty 4-channel cable though?

  • No, I don't know how many channels but it's quite a few. More than 10 anyway. Its BBC1, BBC2, UTV, Channel 4, RTE 1 and 2, TV3, TG4, MTV, E4, Nickelodeon and a few more.

Hey, it's the same NTL basic package as you'd get in Dublin anywhere, which is:

    RTE1/2/TV3/TG4
    BBC1/2/UTV/C4
    Sky One
    Sky News
    MTV
    Nickelodeon/Paramount
    E4
    Discovery
    Setanta Sport
    CNBC

Assuming you have a modern enough TV (older VHF models won't get the lot, cause some of the newer channels are at the top of the UHF band).

Also, if you have a coax input on your radio/hifi (I do, but I'm like that), you get stereo perfect reception for all the BBC stations, BBC World Service, Deutsche Welle, etc.

tuning info etc on ntl.ie, but it's dead easy if you have autofind.

Trinity say they pay all of the license stuff automatically.

Does anyone know if the Rubrics have cable? I'm doubting it but hoping so...

I was just thinking that myself..you don't go to college to spend your time watching ****ing soaps - that's for when you're in your thirties with a **** job and a mortgage!
