Right, I'm returning home soon from America and I was just wondering should i bring my guitar into the cabin with me or will i let it go into the hold, I have a hardcase, however I would much prefer to bring it on with me.

Anyone else flown home with their guitar?

    Thanks!

If you can, get the check in desk people to put it in the cabin where the air crew are. If you can't do that, there's a way of getting it placed into the hold by hand after the rest of the luggage is on. Make sure it's a good hard case though and loosen the strings.

I don't think you've much of a chance getting it on as hand luggage in a case (if you had it in a gig bag you could sit with it easily enough (just like the nun in the Airplane movie) but the hard case will most likely condemn it to a trip in the cargo bay. Then do what Fey said. It should be ok really.

I'll say that so to the person at the check in desk. I don't think the hardcase is that good, I'll have to look into buying a better one maybe.

Thanks for the help lads! :)

Buy a flight case for it. Fragile department on Delta airways is a load of bollox. Put locks on your bags too. My sister didnt and loads of her stuff was stolen. My acoustic got damaged

not too sure about the guitar, but maybe you should look into posting the laptop and electronics back to yourself and mark it as a gift to avoid the chance of johnny customs getting his hands on it
