What's the best way of doing this?
I've my laptop hooked up to my TV - but I like being able to move to different TVs etc.
Can I stream the video from my desktop to my laptop over wireless via http ala Shoutcast or something (except for video - not just audio).
Any other solutions without having to re-encode the video is much appreciated.

    All help is appreciated.

Should work with a good connection..What player are you using on the laptop?
Once the video file is in a folder that is set up for sharing simply open the media on your laptop by browsing for it or entering its location

Right - I'll look into it after I get this problem solved....Just checked a vid - it works grand on the laptop - but when viewing on the tv it doesn't show the actual video itself.
It shows all of Windows etc. but not the movie.
    Any suggestions?

EDIT: Seems when the movie is started from the laptop's display - you'll only be able to view it on the latop's display, and if you start the movie on the TV and revert back to the laptop's display it won't show! Go figure! :)

What output are you using into the tv?

I'm using composite out to scart and I take the audio from the headphone jack, and split it into L & R before going into the scart - basically AV to scart! :)

Have you tried getting any thing else to play on the TV ...Any games or media player ?

Everything works perfect when using the tv as a monitor. Games, movies etc. but obviously a method of sharing the files across the wireless network is in order. I haven't had much luck getting Windows (XP PRO) to share files yet. But it is pretty cool being able to put a movie onto my iPod, hook it up to the laptop, switch on the TV and have the vid play straight from the iPod. Now if I could just share all of my media without this long convoluted method I'd be in media paradise! :-)
