In recent times, I have become aware that I am quite self-concious. In other words, I think about what im thinking. It really annoys me and im always telling myself to shutup in my head.

Is there anything I can do?

Yeah, I hear you on that one. I'm always in my head too. It's annoying!

Keep yourself busy by doing something else.

In what situations do you begin to become self-conscious? ...and what exactly do you be thinking of? I think it is important not to simply tell yourself to shut up but to rather identify what is happening in your head.

I do that all the time especially when things are going bad for me. I think everyone does it to a certain extent but when things are going good you don't even notice it.

As long as your just argueing with yourself or that and not "hearing other voices" its normal enough.

Don't worry about this too much. Everyone does this sometimes and you just can't help critizing ourselves!

Try to relax when things are going good. There is nothing to worry about and there is no reason why you should be self-conscious.

Try to work on your confidence also, this will help to change how you think and after a while you won't care whether things are going bad or good

I'm the same - I'm self concious about everything from how I look (am constantly convinced people are looking at how big my hips are, how stupid), to the things I'm saying, to wondering whether people like me or not.

Scratch that - I'm not the same, I'm way worse than you! I find I'm less self-concious as I get older though, hopefully I'll get over it soon :D

You don't need to tell yourself to shut up, you have as much right as the next person to your opinions, values and beliefs.

Belittling yourself can be a slippery slope, one which can lead into a life of self- hate. Please don't go there.

All people self- critise, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing.
It can be constructive and help us learn from our mistakes.

For every time you find something wrong with yourself, point out something good too, keep your self-esteem up and believe in who you are :)

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I'm like that myself sometimes..... :(

It just shows that you reflect on yourself and are bit a critical of yourself........ and that is a good thing. ;)

I, for example, get worried about stuff whereas there's nothing to get worried about.....
