I bought one yesterday here in the US. It cost me $800 so about Euro670 with a hard case. Its a maple fretboard(my first one) and its really nice so far. I only had it plugged in for a while in the shop and then acoustic in the hotel all fcuking night. Cream in colour and I'll post pics and stuff when I get home.

What the Irish cost for one of these from MM or MInc?

Six to eight hundred methinks. Congrats. they're damn nice guitars.

Just checked out Thomann and this is it

same colour and all. I thought I got a better deal than that. Would have only cost me a ton more from Thomann with a hard case and shipping.

    I'd probably get this instead

Korean made but nice guitars. And as usual, no pics means a ban ;)

It's never as much fun when everyone gets a great deal.

Nice guitar man ...heard good things about the Highway 1 line.gotta love those maple fretboards as well . Does it have noiseless pickups ?
Feylya thats a decent strat for 500E ! 3 SD pickups ..whats a 2 point trem tho ? up and down ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

It's a 2 point synchronized (fulcrum) trem - yes, up and down :p It's an improved version of the vintage style strat trems.

    Congrats, Quattroste!

Ah yes ,as suspected. I hate those trems ..pain in the nads ! too much messing about with spring balancing etc if you want to tune to Eb or altered tunings...athough I've never had a strat with a vintage style trem so dunno if thats a prob with those too...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

Not at all, apart from a very basic adjustment when you set up your guitar, you don't have to mess with it at all. It doesn't go out of tune and it's a very solid trem - the best, IMO. It's nothing nearly as "complicated" or fancy as the Floyd Rose!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭JMArr

Are u talking about 2 Point fulcrum or vintage now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

The 2 point, but the difference between the 2 point and the traditional is not drastic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭JMArr

Ok. But with the 2 point, if you retune one string does it affect the tuning of the others ..eg say dropping the low E to D means retuning and balancing the rest ? I'm speaking from experience with an Ibanez 'floating' type trem which needed to be balanced by string tension..nightmare! >:-A

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

No, with the 2 point you don't have that problem, tuning or detuning one string doesn't affect the other strings as is the case with floating trems.

It's not a floating trem - yes, it does rest on two pivot points, if it didnt, it wouldn't be a trem but a hardtail.

ah cool so ..thumbs up for that one then..I'm off to buy me a strat !:-D

It's a Korean made strat but everything I've read about it says it's incredible. Think I might get myself one one of these days...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭JMArr

Class ...whats the story with the duncans ..noiseless ?Only thing I would want extra is a HB in the bridge.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I think they're just quality single coils, not noiseless. Aye, a hum in the bridge would be nice. I would, does the korean strat have a swimming pool route or a humbucker route for the bridge?...

does the korean strat have a swimming pool route or a humbucker route for the bridge?

It's difficult to tell...some argue that the pool routing affects resonance, others say it's purely for practical reasons and won't affect tone. It's possible that the korean one has a pool routing, even if it's simply to keep costs down. I don't know...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

A swimming pool route has to affect the guitar though. There's a big chunk of wood missing from the middle of it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

Perhaps not drastically, coz there isn't that much more wood missing. If you had a HSS routing, you wouldn't need to rout out much more to end up with a pool.

    Hmm. Interesting.

My mate just asked me - are there more cars or guitars in the world?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

Is your mate that little voice that lives in your head?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Eh... ya know, I've never asked him.

I did ask. You must have missed that thread. Maybe next time. ;)

3 Vintage Style Single-Coil Strat® Pickups with Staggered Pole Pieces, Alnico Magnets

I guess there not noiseless then?? The maple fretboard is nice and I'm getting used to it but the fertboard is kinda curved which I don't think my other guitars are, not as much anyway. It feels a bit weird but then again so do I cos I can't fcuking sleep here. :(

This is a link to the Fender site which has all the details. Mine is Honey Blond.

Very beautiful-looking finish in the pic on the Fender website. Can you see the wood grain slightly through the finish? I think that's very nice.
Personally I have always felt that a Strat must have a maple fretboard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

Yeah you can see the wood because the finish is so fine.

No, those pickups are not noiseless, but you'll know as soon as you plug your guitar in at home if you need to have it shielded or not.

What are you saying about the fretboard? What do you mean curved?
