I think I saw someone writing about a type of "credit card" that people without credit cards could use to buy stuff over the internet. Do these exist?

    3V?

Very useful - order a 3V card from their website. When you've got it, got into your local retailer which allows you to top-up with them. Ask to put between €20 and €320 on it (plus a €5 surcharge).

You will get a printed receipt with your VISA code on it. Expires at the end of the following month.

Has anyone applied on the site yet? and have you received anything?

How does this work address wise ... say I want to order something to be delivered to my house and a requirement on the application form is that billing address is same as shipping address, how would this work with the 3V system?

Yeah.. registered for the card a few weeks back and dropped in the letterbox 2 days later!

Have used it a couple of times since - fantastic service, in my opinion!

People tend to complain about the surcharge but after getting the following DVD's for €145.. i'm not complaining about a measly €5 surcharge considering how much they'd have cost me in the shops!

    Scrubs - Season 1 (4 disc)
    Scrubs - Season 2 (4 disc)
    Lost - Season 1 (7 disc)
    Undeclared (4 disc)
    Batman Begins (2 disc)

CDWOW asked me for a shipping / billing address - put my address on both! Worked out fine. The 3V card / number is registered to your address - not the 3v HQ or anything!

I think 16 is the minimum age - heard that on some news reports!

Registering and recieving the card is free - but as i've said, €5 surcharge applies on every top-up. Your 3V then expires at the end of the next month - it costs €2.50 to unlock any credit you haven't used if it expires.

It should be with you on Friday.. as soon as it's processed - typically the following day - it's sent out to you!

.. not too sure on charges with cancelling the card. Doubt there's any charges!

You can use it on any sites that accept Visa!

But careful as some sites such as Amazon.com and EBay (i think) take a $1 (or €0.80c approx) to check your credit card details. On a normal VISA, they'd re-imburse it but no real way to do that with 3V unless you fill in a dispute form.

    I had a problem with 3v:

I purchases something on ebay and I was a few euro short. Naturally I bought a voucher for 10 eur on top of the 70 eur and I was told by paypal there was a problem.

I do not know what to do at the moment considering I just spent 90 eur on both vouchers

    Please help

    TBH.
It was your own fault. I dont mean to condescend, but you should have contacted the seller and asked if he would (through paypal) accept 2 transactions. Some sellers will do this, but most will not.

Most likely, you will recieve refunds on the 3v cards and get negative feedback for non-payment.

Should read your T&Cs before proceeding.

I'm not sure refunds can be applied to 3V cards - OP, you might want to check that out!

You're right - you don't receieve refunds on the actual card!

But if.. let's say, CDWOW cancel an order you got due to it being wrongly priced or whatever, they'd normally re-imburse it on your credit card but they can't do that with a 3V. So that requires you to fill out a dispute form.. found in the FAQ of the 3V site.

The form requires you to fill in the order number of the order which went tits-up (i've a way with words, don't I?! :D), the retailer and reason why you want to dispute it etc.

3V will review your claim and get back to you within 10 days. They will send you out a cheque for whatever amount you were meant to be refunded.

3V state in their FAQ that you have the same rights regarding refunds as having a regular credit card.

EDIT: Here's a copy of the 3V Dispute form (PDF Format) for those wondering what it involves filling out.
