Chuck Schuldiner used a Boss DS-1 through a Marshall AVT150, and he got a suprisingly good sound out of it.

I have a boss ds2 and its quite nice. You dont really hear it properly until you crank it up loud.

i hate the line6 pedals purely because they look like they are made of lego.i know a new amp would be the ideal way to go but my next step is a half stack and i dont have that kind of money.unless i could sell my avt100....anyone interested??

Have you ever felt a Line 6 Tone Coe Dimerocks? They're solid chunks of metal!

TBH, pop into Music Maker and try the Line 6 pedals. There's a couple of different distortion boxes that are really good.
