i suppse it could gain power as it enters warmer territories!

you only have to look at how far north Maria is and she has developed into a category three hurricane. Nate has plenty of room to get stronger. the ontly thing that could slow it down really is unfriendly upper level winds which would prevent it from developing.

However, I dont think this was expected to become a named storm by its second advisory, so Nate might have a surprise in story for the people of Bermuda or if it stays on a northerly path, Mainland USA.

its also worth noting that the slow moving ones can be the nastiest, remember francis sitting off the coast of Florida for what seemed like an age last year.

Hurricane Emily in July of 2005 was blowing at a speed of 155mph, which is one mpile per hour short of category five status.

I would have to look it up, if you want to see if you can find it here is a list of every tropical storm since 1856 with maps of their tracks

It was a few mph short of cat 5 when it hit land-so officially a cat 4.
It was a cat 5 for a while when out at sea in the gulf.
Katrina was huge in terms of its geographical area though.

    Radar - Bermuda

they must be easy going people, they have three tropical storms around them and they havent yet issued any tropical storm watches.

something bound to show up here for nate over the next few days.

the two lows shown in this UKMET fax are what are left of Maria and Nate

    http://217.160.176.95/wz/pics/brack4.gif

would make for a rough day if it were to come to pass.

Ireland will be feeling the affect of the remains of Nate next Wednesday

So what does that mean? Another few days of strong winds and lots of rain or will it get really wild?

Too early to forecast. Might be nasty.

As of the 21Z NHC advisory, Nate has been reclassified as a tropical storm.

at most it will make for a wet few days but unless the UKMET FAX predictions come to pass, there will be nothing in it for us with this soon-to-be extratropical storm.

Nate continues on its merry way accross the atlantic, It hasn't lost any intensity at this time according to the 03Z advisory.

How this system interacts with Maria remains to be seen. but some of the models suggest that the north east of ireland might be in for some bad weather in the coming week.
