    Okay, comic book newbie here.
In DC Comics, theres supposed to be an event called the Crisis, and apparently lots of the heroes die, but what causes it? What is the Crisis? Everywhere I look online, I can never find a proper answer without it asking for my money. :p

i'm not abig DC fan but i just read the Superman/Batman team up where there was kryptonite comet heading towards earth and president Luthor sends teams of superheroes to bring in Superman
but supes and bats fend off the good guys and bring down Luthor and as he rises from the ashes it ends on him saying there will be a crisis

    any relation?

They're all related. D$C, unless you buy EVERYTHING - nothing makes sense

I think the Crisis you are referring to is "Infinite Crisis".

All of DC's comics have been leading up to it for several month's now.

I think it starts in October.

Correct. The 1st issue went on sale 2 or 3 weeks ago. Its a good read. Very nice double page splash with Nightwing lloking on as hundreds of OMACs gather in the sky and a very nice line that Batman says to Superman.

Be warned though its not exactly newcomer friendly.

Yeah. I noticed that. It seems that you need to have read Crisis on Infinite Earths to get some of the plot of the current crisis. Just looking at the end of issue 1 (NOT GOING TO SPOIL IT). I can't understand why that was meant to be a shock ending or even a good ending. Maybe long term guys will get it.

I prefer House of M. All you have to understand is that Scarlet Witch has lost control...

Geoff Johns has said that all the history needed will be explained to first time readers by the end of Issue 2.

Good luck with that Geoff. I've read the original and still don't get the new one.

Although, Geoff Johns is good at cleaning up stuff (see Hawkman and Green Lanthern)!

Well reading the original will only help so much I suppose. If you're interested in understanding the current crisis the following should be picked up:

    Identity Crisis
    The OMAC Project
    Villains United
    Rann/ Thangaran
    Day of Vengeance
    The Return of Donna Troy
JLA Issues 115 - 119 ("Crisis of Conscience" arc)

Sacrifice Arc (Superman #218-220, Adventures of Superman #642-643, Action Comics #829 and Wonder Woman #219-220)

Anyone know where you can get those comics online or if comic books are still stocking them?

Identity Crisis and the four Infinite Crisis Minis (Rann Thanangar War, Day Of Justice, Villains United, & OMAC Project) are all being collected as trades. The hardback of Identity Crisis has been out at least a month, and there's also a Prelude To Infinite Crisis which serves as a lead-in.

Not sure about the "Crisis Of Conscience" storyarc or the Return Of Donna Troy (though I'd expect the latter at least to be released as a trade at some stage...)
