The second I saw it I knew it was a Breedlove. I love Breedloves so much.

No way I'd pay that price for a guitar with a gloss finish.
    Won't mature as well.
    Tbh, I think it's butt-ugly...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭kennier

Well I agree on the price but not on the looks. I still thinks its lovely! What's that about the gloss not maturing as well as a mat finish, say? Do you mean the tone or do you mean it'd be liable to cracking or loosing it's lustre?

Honestly, it does look nice, but not, can't see myself ever paying that much for an acoustic.

Yeah, I've been looking for the last (this is a complete lie) addition to my family. I've been checking out Breedloves, Lowdens and even the highly recommended Froggy Bottom (which I have never seen in this country) and the prices are whoooah!

Yeah, I've been looking for an acoustic myself too, and just found one today that would love to be part of the collection. Unfortunatly, the wallet says no. :(

    What you looking at?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

I can't remember the make I'm afraid. I was looking at Takamine before, but I think this one I spotted today was even nicer.

Think I'll have to cool the jets a bit...I'll have no money lets unless I calm down... :p

Nice too: Froggy. Anyone have any experience with these?

Oh I have been.....drool. So many guitars, so little money!

    Ain't that the truth! :)

Actually, I think the guitar I was looking at today might have been Art & Lutherie, as I do remember it being a Canadian hand-made solid-top guitar. Thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭kennier

Maybe we could start a club like those classic car clubs, you know the ones where you put in a few hundred quid into a pot and the club buys a load of guitars that the members borrow....imagine the squabbles over who gets what though!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Aye, that would be a ****ing nightmare!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

The sabotage and back-stabbing would be out of control :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭kennier

And if we were getting something like a Larrivee, we'd need 5+ members @ 200 a pop to share one guitar...jaysus!

I think I played one before. Nice & easy on the fingers. I *think* that they are the entry level Godin guitar who also do the Seagull & S&P

Obviously, those who get up in the morning to work for a living would get to keep the guitar longer - and the lazy ass bums who are still asleep would just have to wait their turn. :p

Um, kennier and I were just talking about football.

False alarm - sorry for waking you, sir.

Yeah, I was fairly impressed. Going fairly cheap aswell, which is suprising for a solid top hand made guitar.

Why were you talking about football in an Instruments forum? Hopefully no football with a guitar :o

Anyone ever play the really small Taylor Baby?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

Yup. Didnt like it all. Not even too keen on the big baby. I've mostly been playing acoustic for the last two years. Kennier Perfect Pitch have acoustic guitars called McIlroy. I'd be looking at one of those, a breedlove, a larivee, a lowden, a taylor(3/4 series up) or a Santa Cruz. I'll prob get one of those next year if I can spot a nice bargain on ebay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭kennier

Wow! You must be earning the big bucks to be thinking of a McIlroy!

Waaay! Just noticed I'm a 2 starrer now

Karl, you may have been playing a Simon and Patrick. Solid-body, hand made in Canada, all of the other things oyu said, and gorgeous guitars for the price. Mine was 550 and I'd have paid over a grand for it. If I hadn't seen the price tag, I'd have expectged to. They are serius instruments.

Probably. They're part of the the same company as Art & Lutherie afaik anyway. Nice guitars considering how cheap they are, but unfortunately they only do dreadnoughts.

Methinkks Art & Lutherie are the cheaper arm. I like the dreadnought sound, and they have some cool models that aren't quite dreadnoughts, but if you're looking for something like it, I really can't recommend them highly enough.

This is the model I have, with the solid spruce top, except mine doesn't seem to be at all gloss-finished.

A new one I've come across tonight. Ryan guitars. This sexual acoustic is valued at $27,500

Could be, I don't know. I'll have to see another time, get a proper play with it. ;)
