Photography Courses in Dublin - Advice needed

    Hi,

I am considering taking a course in digital photography in the Dublin area. I wanted to get advice from anyone who has taken a course either at the Dublin Camera Club or the National Gallery of Photography or others ?? ...

I am familiar with the workings of my Digtial SLR (a Canon EOS20d) and indeed the basic principles of photography (from pinholes onwards) but I have never had any formal training. I don't know if that means I am a beginner, intermediate or advanced but I would like some formal training to take me to the next level ... whatever that is!!

I am also quite familiar with the basic techniques and indeed some advanced techniques with Phtoshop CS.

I want a short course which provides a good grounding in the following -

    - A deeper understanding of the features and capabilities of my camera
    - Composition techniques
    - Using and understanding light
    - Projects to give me a better focus for my interest / hobby
    - A forum to meet and share ideas with other amateurs
    - Photshop CS (advanced usage, though I'm sure there are some basics I still need to learn !!)

... I understand it takes years to learn all of the above to become a great photographer but I want something that gives me a good kick start ...

    any advice ?

    Thanks

    Simon

Old Bawn Community College are signing up students right now for their 10 week evening courses.

I got the leaflet a few days ago and noticed they are now doing 'Advanced Digital Photography' - Which includes photoshop.
