best solution for emulators?

I'm looking for advice on the best way to play old C64, Amstrad, Megadrive games....I was looking at those TV Games in Argos which consists of just a joystick and the games are included....but I would prefer something where I could change the games .....

Perhaps a PSP is a better idea.?

PSP is great but the European ones aren't compatible with emulators *yet*

They should be soon. A modded x-box is another option. Or if it's portable you want there's the GP32. I've never used one but heard their very good for emulators.

The easiest way is using your PC though. Get one of those USB converters for a Playstation joypad and your sorted.

A modded xbox is amazing for emulation.

  • Yeah I was really thinking portable AND emulation.....looks like I'll go for a GP32....looks a bit dodgy getting one though (and there seems to be a new model coming out)

the xbox works very well and you can play 4 player multiplayer games too. I dont know much about the gp32 but I'll wait for the gpx2 which looks to me like a much better purchase than the PSP because it's designed for homebrew development.

GP32s aren't being manufactured any more. E-Bay is your best bet there.
I'm hanging on though for the GPx2, should be able to get your hands on one around November.
Mame is already running (limited game support, but still quite a few) on the GP32 but eh newer GPx2 should be capable of much more.

Pgen and Snes station for mega drive and snes games on your PS2, there a MAME emu out for the PS2 aswell, you'll need swap magic or a chipped console though
