Just a quick question in regards to when Boone is in the
beachplane on the radio, when boone says something along the lines of, we survived a plane crash ocianic airlines 815, does the voice on the other end say, "but were the survivors of flight 815"? I also think it sounds remarkably like Boone

Numerous tests have been done on this. Afaik the voice does say "No, we're the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815". As for whether it's Boone's voice or not I don't know, but I highly doubt it.

So judging from what we learn of Locke in this episode he was lying the time he told Sawyer the story of the dog that came to stay with them. Not that that matters, it had the desired effect at the time but just something to note.

It'll be interesting to see whether Locke's paralysis is as a result of this operation and not something else that we haven't seen yet.

I also wonder what the chances are of Jack's dad having somehow been involved in the operation. Hmmm...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,198 ✭✭✭Baldie

Or maybe Jack did the operation....

His first major operation as a doctor and he screwed it up, causing the paralasis..... ???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭Bacchus

Didn't the person die in the episode with Jack vs his Dad. Couldn't have been Locke.
Can anyone else confirm what was said back to Boone on the radio in the plane. If what is in those spoilers is true it makes for some very interesting noodle scratching.

He said that was his foster mother.

Locke's operation was four or more years before Jack's dad lost that patient on the table. So it could have been Locke.

Thanks for clearing that up LiouVille. When Locke said he'd never been adopted in last night's episode I assumed he had spent his life in an orphanage but I think he did mention something about foster homes.

Someone was talking when Boone explained what "Theresa falls up the stairs, Theresa falls down the stairs" meant. Could someone let me know what this was about? (No spoilers from future eps please!)

It's being discussed on the 1x20 "Do No Harm" thread. Essentially its:

Boone: Hello. Hello. Anybody out there? Mayday mayday.
    Radio voice: Is someone there?
Boone Hello. Hello! Can you hear me?
Radio voice: Repeat the transmission please.
Boone. Hello. We're survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. Please copy.
Radio voice. Hello. We're the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.

Here's mp3s of the two versions of what's said:
    http://www.ofdm.utvinternet.com/Lost/We'reTheSurvivors.zip

The first version is from Deus Ex Machina, the second is from the recap episode "The Journey".

thought he said "there were no survivors of oceanic flight 815"

listened to it quiet a few times, if locke could just SHUT UP for a min!

    oh yes!
    that was fairly friggin' cool!!
pity they didnt show ANYTHING about it in the following episode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭Bacchus

Yeah, what the hell was that about?? It wasn't even mentioned in the next episode and the moment felt kinda brushed over.
I wonder whats in the hatch.
Did anyone else immediately think "Party time for Charlie" when it all the heroin was discovered in the plane?

Yeah, hopefully Locke will remember to hide it.

Boone. Hello. We're survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. Please copy.
Radio voice. Hello. We're the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.
When you're speaking on the radio, when you say "please copy" does that mean you're asking them to repeat back what you just said?

Or was there someone else out there saying they were the survivors?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,820 ✭✭✭Femelade

i listened to it a few more times:

there is no reason for some one to say "there were no survivors of oceanic flight 815" that would mean that the aircraft was found and there were no survivors, if the plane hasnt been found then they wouldnt know if there was survivors.

i'm not sure about that "please copy" but it is the "way" it was said.
    the word WE'RE was emphasized.

"WE'RE they survivors of oceanic flight 815"

so were there survivours from the tail end of the plane? would they have radio equipment on that part of the plane? i dunno!
if there are other survivors i wonder did they meet ethan?

This program gets weirder and weirder but I love it so damn much. I love lockes characther by far the best characther. This certainly is shaping up for something totally out of the ordinary, I have listened to the mp3's over and over again and that aint boones voice, also I think that the voice says there were no survivors. Theory of mine would be, what is the possibilty of this story taking a major shift from the ordinary if you will. Lets say the plane was found with no survivors, and in a weird lost twist like the bermuda triangle but not the bermuda triangle if you know what I mean they have been transfered some how another dimension of sorts via a portal.

Thought it was excellent the way they didnt say anything about the light in the next episode, it let the drama play out....

Very good episode though. 19 and 20 really work together as one though.

I'd say it's probably another group of survivors. But "Repeat the transmission please" is a bit formal for an amateur using the radio...

Also, does anyone remember in one episode when Walt asks Locke if his dad is cool and Locke says "No, he's not cool."

An interesting point, it would also require the radio voice person to know communication protocols and lingo

There may have been radio equipment in the tail section. It's also a little convient that everyone luggage from the front section landed in their part of the island. Where is luggage normally stored on a plane, forward or aft?

On another point, I have no idea how anyone can think the voice says "there were no survivors" - I'm listening to it on 120W speakers and it clearly says "WE'RE the survivors..."

A little off-topic, but if you play Boone's conversation with the radio voice backwards, it sounds like he's speaking German.

Ha ha! I'm still hearing "There were no..." which is what I thought it was when I saw it last night. I guess it's hard to get one sound out of your head once it's in there. We'll have to wait and see.

A teaser shown in america for the season so far made it far more audible, and it does say we're the survivors.

I defo believe the wormhole concept, plus how the hell a so called priest on a flight from Nigeria drug smuggling drugs end up in the middle of the pacific. Also how the heck does locke forsee such like the plane crash. Theres so much to mister locke than we know about. "Well Duh I know"

    i'm a bit confused...

why is everybody dismissing the purgatory theory. surely, in the simplest terms, good vs evil. if you are good but do something bad (but not too bad) or bad and do something amazing (eg save a life) you will have to spend time in purgatory to decide the outcome of your soul.

i also believe that the monster is i fact 'death' or 'god'... you see where i am going with this. those that have already died have had their fates decided, such as boone giving his life to save others, whilst the others are still choosing... with the exception of locke who has actually become possessed by the entity (in a good way). if you concentrate on locke he seems to know too much about the others and is trying to steer them in the right direction, eg charlie is a drug addict, obviously a sin, and locke 'saves' him.

these are just my musings, but if anyone has any ideas/thoughts...

because the creators have dismissed the theory of purgatory! and no,I somehow doubt they are doing it to throw people off.

i am so terrified that when lost ends, not just the first series , but when the whole "meaning" comes out, i'm just going to be sitting there, totally clueless!
i'm afraid that the theory is going to be so "out there" that i just wont get it!

I'd say Jack might be a wee bit suprised that Locke's got a gun now, seeing as he's had the key to the marshal's case around his neck all the time.

Very good episode, but once I saw the dialysis machine it took me all of a second to see where it was going.

(edit) Oh another thing. Did Locke hear the radio response? If not...

it has been confirmed through scripts that the perosn did say we're the survivors. also from results ive seen from dictation machines on various lost forums the computers say the two people on the radio is the same person, either because of the radio interfernce i dont understand it?

also please stop spouting the dead theory coz the writers have said they are NOT dead. samuel l. jackson will aparently guess star in the new series as rose's husband(flashback?)

dont ask to me to find links coz im tired and off to bed!!

also i dont agree with the atlantis theory but i may reveal too much by discussing it...

    what a show though!!

Samuel L Jackson will NOT be in Lost! That was just a rumour someone made up. He will not be on the show.

    2 points...

with regards to the radio message, if it is the same person, could it not just be an echo of sorts ie the message that boone says bouncing off the tranceiver? (eg if you have cable in one room and terristrial tv in another, but both on the same channel, the cable set is about 3 seconds slower than the terrestrial) meaning that boone is in fact hearing himself but moments previous.

... i know its been dismissed, but back to purgatory. i'm slowly getting through them, what with work and all. just seen charlie's story and he is a staunch catholic but with all of us confession creates absolution. however, with something like heroin addiction you cannot just kick the habit, but at the same time unable to confess due to pride, which alas is a mortal sin. i know that i still have a lot to watch, but every episode draws closer to this theory.

... and with regards to the writers dismissals have they not dismissed all theories thus far stating that they have seen the correct theory somewhere but not said what it was. i personally think that they have a vague idea what is going to happen but will not divulge it until they have stolen all the good ideas that people are posting on the net.

I'm pretty sure the plane Kate has is plastic.

That plane has other significance, which we'll probably see in the next Kate episode. (sneaked a look at the screencaps)

Impossible. At no time does the radio voice REPEAT what Boone says, so that theory is BS.

    Cardinal sin not mortal sin.

The plastic aeroplane is a jumbo of some sort, looks like a Boeing 757 or a Boeing 777.

OFDM... Huh? i thought the whole arguement stems from what is heard on the radio...
Boone: hello, we're the survivors of flight 815.

Radio: (either) hello, we're the survivors of flight 815.
(or) hello, no, we're the survivors of flight 815.
(or) hello, there were no survivors of flight 815.

as the majority of people believe its the first, i was merely attempting to offer an explaination...

... obviously with your infinite wisdom, pleeeeaaaassse (no sarcasm intended [oh no, now it sounds even more sarcastic(how do you show inflections in writing?)]) tell me why i am incorrect. When i listened to it via the link again it sounded the same.

(also...the call me all post,a few down agrees).

... and as for cardinal/mortal it depends on your religion. if i'd have wriiten cardinal you would have probably corrected me towards the christian version.

    Y so A0?

    It's VERY simple. Boone says:

"Hello. We're survivors of THE CRASH of Oceanic Flight 815. Please copy."

    The radio voice says:
"Hello. We're THE survivors of Oceanic Flight 815."

There's also added emphasis on "We're" in the radio voice's response.

Clearly there's is no possible way these two sentences could be the same. Also the full transcript of the conversation is:

Boone: Hello. Hello. Anybody out there? Mayday mayday.
    Radio voice: Is someone there?
Boone Hello. Hello! Can you hear me?
Radio voice: Repeat the transmission please.
Boone. Hello. We're survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. Please copy.
Radio voice. Hello. We're the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.

When does Boone say "Is someone there?" or "Repeat the transmission please."???

That shoots down the argument of a reflection right there.
