New digital platform in Ireland?

I noticed in the buy and sell some dublin dealers are selling set top boxes for the New Irish multi channel digital platform? This is the 1st I have heard of any sort of service. Any one else have any infomation?

I think they are trying to make money on what is only gonna be a test of the dtt system in dublin and surrounding areas by the dept of communications. All you will get is rte tv3 and tg4 I think no other channels confirmed and it is only a very basic test not full scale and no promise it will ever be.

Are the boxes (presumbly UK-spec) even going to work in these trials?

I guess one benefit would be anamorphic widescreen if this is used.

If its a test why are they selling boxes? Surely they would give them away?
