    Hey all,

Im going to buy a HDD and a Sound System of Komplett and need some advice.

Im presuming the price stated on those address DOES include VAT? I know it says it on the site - but I was told from another private retailer it doesnt, and the summary you receive when you go and buy it is also wrong - they never added in the VAT to the total which im supposedly supposed to do (he said the "Prices incl. VAT" on there website is wrong). Wats amasing is, the total cost of the HDD as stated on the Order Summary is cheaper then the same HDD he offered to sell me. He doesnt sell Sound System but highly recommended it.

He also said that never to buy a product of Komplett to be delivered by An Post as A) It will either get damaged or B) it will get lost. If those two happen, I have no claim apparently and its stated in the "small print". He said go by DHL.

Can anyone confirm this? Or is this all bull-talk?!

bull-talk, just recieved a gfx card today off komplett, right on time, through an-post and in perfect condition, also the prices do include vat

komplett would not use "an post" if they weren't good, i haven't used an post with komplett before, but people were screaming out for a alternative delivery service and after months of trials an post was chosen.

until you sign for the goods they are the responsibility of komplett.

their prices include VAT, when i buy from komplett the price i see is the price i pay.

i'd would use dhl myself as it has a 24hour turn around - from the item's shipment (if you live in the dublin/bray region)

Sweet, and so when I go to the checkout the "Order Summary" includes the VAT price for reference? Because if you add the item cost, VAT and delivery charge its higher then the "Total" stated on the summary and if you dont include the VAT in the price then the "Total" is correct - so im guessing they included the VAT for reference?

Also, if I sign for the goods and open to see the product is damaged - what can I do? Or if I receive a package which is badly damage before I sign for it?

    all prices include VAT

contact Komplett within 24 hours and explain the situation, but you won't receive damaged goods.

I've received goods which were broken on arrival before from komplett, nothing expensive though, just a cheapass hard disk caddy.
They have a great returns policy, always prompt an reasonable in dealings with them. I've been buying from komplett since the start of their Irish operation and they are the most trustworthy and reliable retailers I have ever dealt with.

And that says a lot considering they're an online retailer.

Meh. Sounds like that he's trying to rip you off "buy my stuff, cos you'll only get broken stuff off Komplett". I've got stuff off Komplett before, and it was always good.

I've ordered a couple of thousand euros worth of stuff from Komplett over the last few years and I've never had a problem with them. They include vat (you can turn this behaviour on or off) by default.
DHL delivery is quick enough but bloody expensive. An post takes about 4 working days and is fine, with the added bonus that if you aren't there to receive the item you can pick it up from the post office. If it was to get lost, its not your responsibility.
Sounds like this retailer is sore at the fact that he can't compete with komplett. He doesn't deserve to profit from you after his advice.

I recently got a monitor from komplett.
It was delayed by about three weeks, but the reason was that they didn't have it stocked (I never checked this when I ordered), and the supplier wasn't meeting their targets.

So my advice is to order something that is actually in stock.

My monitor was eventually shipped on a Thursday at 17:15, and arrived in my office in Dublin the following Tuesday at 12:30! That is 2.5 working days! It is in perfect condition. All by An Post.

Another vote for Komplett. The total price they give you is what they charge. Delivery is good and reliable. I've had to return one part to them (not their fault, it didn't work as described by the manufacturer) and they were excellent about it, giving me a prompt refund with no hassles.

I have bought from komplett before with no problems....

Does the delivery come with a VAT invoice?

I only bought small stuff before and wasnt concerned about getting VAT back, and dont want to set up a credit account with them.

At the moment KOMPLETT are the best irish website to buy from, there is know Irish online company who can beat them for price or selection.

Also the price they quote is the price you get! There Fair & if you do have any problems they will usually help resolve them as quickly and effectively as possible.

You could do a hell of a lot worse than buying from Komplett.ie!!!

I bought of them a few times and found them reliable but I wanted to double-check this guys story and ask the experience from the good people on Boards ;)

My price from Komplett was: 97euro + DELIVERY = 107
Other guys price was: 94euro + VAT (no delivery charge) = 114euro

For the exact same drive? Same capacity and speed? Same interface (IDE/SATA)? Same size cache (8/16MB?) etc.

That's pretty decent for a bricks'n'mortar shop if it is the same product.

Not the exact same - but similar. 200GB HD with IDE interface. Cache and speed - Not aware of. Different make - Maxtor.

Still tho, twas a bit of a rip-of for the fact its similar

i bought a load of stuff off of komplett.ie from gfx cards, hard drives to monitors and nothing was ever damaged! the boxes were never even wrinkled abit :) but paying 10eur for an item the size of a monitor is very good value! and using an post u can be assured they will find your house and delivery it or drop it if off at your local post office within 4 days! :) dhl are obviously better but 4 times the price, i would only bother with them if i was getting a total computer kit or something
and as said the price on the site + your choice of delivery is the price you pay and i am yet to find a brick and mortar cheap even close to them :)

    /Edit
an added bonus of komplett is u can get on to them and fix problems (if u get any) quickly here

What was the name of this retailer? IT Direct or Peats? :)

I meant by that was that it was a guy who works for some company. Might be FN Components, so the card says..

You're been told a load of BS. Its not similar if its a different make and has a different cache, or interface. Its like comparing a 4 door Fiat with a a 4 Door Mercedes. That guy is trying to rip you off not Komplett. Hes already told you a barefaced lie about VAT.

The BIG difference is that his price will stay the same for weeks, whereas Kompletts price will usually slip down once they stock a new thing (this happens often enough).

Also, if you bought the IDE version of the product your buying at Komplett, it'd be 90euro + delivery = 100, still 14euro cheaper than his price.

combine your order with a mate and take down that pesky postage price per person (yes, commonly know as the ppppp) ;)

Use komplett all the time now, had a dabble with some other places but have gone back to them. there's a forum for komplett on boards.ie here, with a komplett representative who'll reply to your posts, answer questions and generally keep up good consumer relations.

    It's here.

    It's under Shop -- Interaction -- Komplett.

OK this is weird.. after filling all my credit card details etc I was redirected to a "Allied Irish Bank | Verified By Visa page. I clicked verify later but that page is VERY confusing. After vefifying later they redirected me back to Komplett who gave me the order no. and informed me I will receive an email shortly. When I visited my account page to view my order they tell me that I also purchased a
"Power Adapter from 2-pin EU to 3-pin UK Adapter for 2 pin flat Europe power cord" which I never did..

    Never came across that before.
