    Ok,

this is a serious article btw.

I haven't posted in a week coz I've been seriously depressed, bored and pissed off. I crashed my car last week and it has eaten up all my money to get it fixed and pay off others involved.

I'm not interested in spending any more time grinding and don't have the money to play big games so I have to find something to do for the winter.

I've tried alcohol, sex, gambling and all the other vices that make life worth living and as much as I enjoy them I am still seriously, existentially bored. So there is only one thing left for me to do.

And thats to do something decent for somebody who could do with a hand.
I enjoyed the feeling I got from helping James and his bleedingheartpoker night, knowing that ALL the money was going to two good charities.

So, and this is where the HELP part comes in. I'm gonna organise a charity night for a sick kids charity, probably the Barretstown Gang.

But I want to raise about ten grand not two or three. And that means 100 players at fifty quid each with one rebuy or top up.

And I want everybody to get something worth 20e each and everybody on the final table to get decent prizes and maybe the second last table too.

I think I can get Ken and Luke to help with the facilities in the Fitz. I hope Tom Murphy and his Santa strike force team will have time to help. Paddy Power Poker who use this board can help. James and his bleedingheartpoker team I think will jump in too. And theres loads of lads here who know me who I hope will put aside their hatred of me and find a prize to throw in.

But heres were the HELP bit comes in. I need prizes. Vouchers, gift certificates, games, books, jackets, gadgets, booze, and a half dozen decent prizes for the final table. Get a hundred prizes together, allocate them into a prize pyramid where the first twenty out get the little stuff, the next twenty out get the good booze, the last ten out get the travel vouchers or shopping certificates or whatever the best stuff is.

I havent spoken to anyone about this but now that I've said that I'll do it then it's gonna get done. Probably about 6-8 weeks from now, round about Halloween. I realise now in my thirties that my only real talent is kickin ass when I get pissed off enough so I might as well do it for somebody else. Kickin' ass for the kids! anyway enough of my ego fueled ranting. I'll be in touch with a few people here over the next few weeks to see what prizes they can gather so look out.

I hope you will support me and maybe even take over when I disappear two days before it on a mariachi binge to Mexico. Believe me I won't get in the way if lads more capable than me really get stuck in. The only thing I ask is that ALL the money goes to a charity for sick kids this first time.

And i hope you will play too.
So if you have any ideas private message me or phone me on 087 2845684

what the hell. its something to do while ur waiting to die.

this may be the wrong time to mention this but if any of you have good looking sisters who want to help out by all means give them my number.

    i've gone too far, haven't i....

I'll probably be at the freeroll Thursday night if you want to meet up. its all i can afford anymore. and just because I'm doing something for charity doesn't mean I'll be any less of a dick in real life either.

great Rory. and u don't have to give up any freerolls coz it won't be for 6-8 weeks.
the plan is that everybody gets something and that there are some good prizes too, like golf and motor stuff and vouchers. A dozen of us can get this off the ground, with another dozen offering decent prizes and getting plenty of good advertisement vibes for it.
eh Mccaul and paddy power? :D

thanks for the support rory, talk to u later.

I'll be happy to find a prize to give, something small but cool for those unlucky buggers who crash out before the final table!

excellent lads. cheers. my goal over the next 6 weeks is to find 100 prizes in total. 60 worth 20-30 quid, 20 worth 50 quid, 10 worth 100 euro, 5 worth 200 euro and 5 worth a grand each.
that way everybody gets something and it'll be worth playing in apart from the good deed aspect of it.

I hope if anyone else has any ideas or can chip in then they'll let me know. u can PM me or phone me. my number is in the first post.

Ken from the Fitz said that they can provide the venue so this is definitely going ahead. It may get smaller in ambition but the goal is to raise ten grand for now.

    cheers again, des.

so far we have ten small prizes and one medium prize. so if ur business wants some good vibe advertising by chipping in, do let me know.

Sounds good. I'll probably play. As to prizes my contacts on that front are lacking. How about some genuine Stuey Ungar shades (prop) as used in the movie, something a poker player may appreciate. Not worth much but priceless to a true poker fan :)

    Thanks guys,

I'll be in touch with you all individually in the next week. Without decent prizes it wouldn't be fair to ask anybody to play so that is my main focus for the next few weeks. All ideas are welcome. But it will be an uphill battle and I have to look into a few things first before asking anything from anyone.

anyway, thanks for the support. I don't mind if this thread dies as I'll start another when i have more details and info to give out.
so long as everybody gets something out of it, kinda like an expensive lucky bag, not too expensive though i hope.
