Dunno if anyone here has this product, but thought I'd give it a whirl.

I'm looking for something to sit between the firewall and the network that can filter streaming media. Basically I want to restrict the streams and be able to categorise and monitor them. At the mo, I have a huge rigmarole to allow someone view a webcast that involves ip reservations and firewall access that has become a pain in the arse and too hard to administer.

My firewall provider mentioned this product and I have spoke to the sales people in England, but I think it might be too much for what I want. It seems to be this whole proxy, av and web filtering product in one, which I already have on separate servers.

Would anyone know of anything else out there that would do the trick? I looked at real players helix product, but it seemed to be more geared to the stream providers rather than the stream receivers.

Hope this makes sense, and is no too much of a ramble!

Netspective from verso will do the trick.. as will websense.. but both of those are heavyweight content-filtering and monitoring tools.. and extremely pricey.

it may seem like a pain.. but its not too hard to setup proper filtering rules allowing access to specific sites (bbc/rte etc) on the ports and protocols that are used for streaming.. at least it shouldn't be with any half-decent firewall.
