Hi, I want to free up space on my system by removing all files that were created before 2002, is there a app or tool that will group together files that were created in the same year? Also has anyone used spacemonger? Would it help me with my problem?

Can you not just use Windows Search and specify when the files were modified? or do a search for *.* and sort the list by "created"
Sounds a bit dodgy what yer doing tho

windows search utility will do this. just choose to search 'all files and folders' and use the drop down of 'when was it modified', but it's unlikely that the date/time stamp on a file will do you any good, and may well leave you with missign system files if you just delete everything.

your best bet would be to download something like treesize pro and find out what's taking up the most space.

there's a free demo (30 days I think) that you can download here: http://www.jam-software.com/treesize/index.shtml

just look and see if there's anything taking up loads of space unnecessarily and once you ARE 100% SURE that they are unneeded files you can delete them.

deleting files off your PC is done entirely at your own risk though, and you should know you can very easily kill your system by deleting the wrong files.

your best bet for cleaning space is:

    1. uninstalling unused apps.
    2. running the disk cleanup wizard in 'start > all programs > accessories' and using it to delete temp files.
    3. delete all but your last restore point (also in the cleanup wizard under another tab).

if you have any problems or doubts ask here first BEFORE rushing into things.
