I am thinking about leaving castleknock and moving out to meath. I was wondering what the traffic is like on the mornings.
I am looking to stay within dublin side of navan/trimand was wondernig how long it takes in the mornings to get to blanchardstown, especially the exit for the shopping centre?
does anyone do this commute everyday and what is it like, gridlock doesnt move, busy but moves, etc.

    thanks in advance.

I commute from Navan but use the N2 Ashbourne road. The main traffic heavy spots on the N2 are Dubshaughlin and Fairyhouse Cross (1 mile-ish before the dual carriageway)

Once your on the Dual Carriageway its not so bad. Traffic starts again right after the Blanch exit....

Depends on where abouts you are going really. If you are going to the Ballycoolin Industrial Estate area or up Blanch Rd North area you would prob be better turning off before Dunshaughlin at 'Ross Cross' - heading into Ratoath and using the back roads.. much quicker most days...

I've been commuting from Navan to the city centre for 6 years now.It takes me an hour but I travel back roads. It depends really on what time you leave at .I leave at 6.45 and arrive in work at between 7.40-7.45.I would reckon you would do Blanch in 45 mins

    What about public transport?
A friend commutes from Navan to town. She reads while on the bus.

I get the train from Coolmine to Clontarf. Great for getting reading. Now if I could only get a seat...

Public Transport to Navan is good in theory.. :) but it is expensive at over €40 for a weekly ticket and most of the buses are full before the get to the Blanchardstown area.. and they will only stop at the bus stop at the roundabout on the dual carriageway..

i work beside the red cow and start at 9am, cannot change this and dont finish till 6:30 or 7. and public transport is not really an option unless the government hurry up and build this metro.... oh look a whole flock of flying FF pigs... and the navan line being reopened looks like an even bigger fairytale than the m3 not affecting any historical sites......

i ride a bike from castleknock to red cow and it takes 20 mins using the back roads, park etc, as the m50 is a death trap for bikes.

if i moved 30mins outside blanchardstown towards trim/navan/dunsh... (cant spell) it would mean a total trip time of 1 hour to and from work. trim is roughly 40 mins from blanch so that is really pushing it for as far as we would think of moving. my partner works in ballycoolin so its not too bad for her as she starts at 8am so she is ahead of alot of the traffic..

the reason i want to move is to have a bit of land around me, 1/2 acre to 1 acre, thats all i want, not a lot of space but just somewhere for the dog and the 2.4 children when they come around.

please commuters tell me your thoughts.
