You mean memory stick duo's? Cause if you bought a SD card for the PSP you are going to be awfully dissapointed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

yes them, i forgot what they were called. look like SD cards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

Well you can get them off ebay for about 75 euros including delivery from US sellers and it takes about 4/5 days usually.

    http://search.ebay.co.uk/1-pro-duo_W0QQcatrefZC6QQfltZ9QQfromZR10QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQga10244Z10425QQsacatZQ2d1QQssPageNameZRC0022

Or you go into any ripoff irish store selling psp stuff and pay twice that ;)

I got 2 1GB ones from outpost.com for €143. Only thing is I got them delivered to my sister in NY. She is home in a week so then I'll have one stick for my SE K750i and one for the PSP!

Well worth it to get delivered to any one you know on a J1

I bought a 1GB SanDisk MS DUo on eBay for €95.

My cousin told me that Woolworths in the UK are doing a special introductary offer of a game and a 512MB stick for £29.99 - I don't know if you have to buy a psp at the same time to get the deal though.

Game Stop are doing a 1GB one for €119. Not bad really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭voxpop

do you need a 1GB mem card or is it only really useful for homebrew stuff ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

The 32mb is fine for save games etc, the 1gig is handy for good quality full movies and music. But seeing as you can get the 1gigs off ebay for just 75 euros including p+p , they are worth getting. But no way would i pay over 100 euros for one, I'd buy two off ebay before i'd do that.

I got mine from Stansted Airport

I've got about 10 dvds comprssed and the average one will fit on the 512mb card while 2 or 3 need the 1gb card.

I think it all depends on quality and software u use

Is there anywhere around town that is anywhere near the €73 ebay price? Or should I just give up and order it ebay.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,243 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

CHeapest I've seen it in town in €119.

Best bet is ebay or outpost.com (I think about €90 delivered to Ireland)

the prices will drop eventually right?3rd party companies hopefully will get in on the act.

You'll never get them cheap in ireland! ;) , shops in france sell 1gigs for 80 euros and the site posted above has 2gigs for 150 euros which is too good to be true as you would be lucky to get one for under 300 euros anywhere else. Ebay has 1gigs for about 75 euros including delivery and insurance but it seems like nobody here trusts ebay. Hopefully ebay sellers start selling the 2gigs for about 150 euros soon.

ps: sandisk are just as good as the sony ones and cheaper

I still use the 32MB card out of my sony ericsson phone. It still does the job for now but I will probably buy a bigger one on ebay. You can actually get a lot of good deals. Just try to do some history checking about the seller. Sure I got my japanese PSP on ebay for £125 sterling. The US device had been released and everyone was after them so I go the Japanese one cheaper. Haven't had any problems with it it.

I have seen a 2GB disk on ebay for €207 but thats too much in my opinion I will just get a 1GB for the time being and see how I go. I'd say by this time next year it will be all 2GB+ mem stick pro duo's...and they will probably all come down in price too, maybe I'm wrong but it's usually the case with everything...

P.S. Anyone who bought off ebay, could you care to let us know who you got your cards from..

I got a 512mb one in Munich, I got another 1GB one from Komplett, then I have the 32mb one I got with the PSP and a 64MB one I got with my SonyEricsson K750i.

I have a second 1GB one in the post from komplett atm too.

I used to use the 32mb card for saved games but with all the wipeout gamma/classic packs [I have the US Wipeout and Jap PSP] taking up so much space I've swopped it with the 64mb stick from my phone [which now uses my 512mb card]

Yea, I've far too many Memory Sticks.

Tip, whatever you do, do not buy them from xtra vision. They are charging at least €20 extra on top of say, gamestop.

*Transfer and playback of secured music on Memory Stick PRO Duo™ media (e.g. music purchased from online music services) is not currently possible. This media does support the playback of unsecured MP3 music files.

Does this mean that I cannot put any random music onto this card? Does it have to be legit music that was purchased online??

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 6,525 Mod ✭✭✭✭dregin

You can put any music that doesn't have DRM (Digital Rights Management ) onto your stick and I would imagine that this is the majority of your stuff (unless you've bought everything from iTunes..)
