Can anyone advise me as to what is the best size to leave C: with Win XP OS on it using partition magic? 27 GB HD on Dell Inspiron 2650.

I *think* the minimum you can have is 5GB. I have a 20GB partition with XP and all my programs on it (excluding games) and I've 10GB free.

If you are going to install stuff to the other partition then I'd say that 5gb should do the job.
I have a few VMware images here running on 5Gb and they tend to be fine.
You'd probably get away with 3.5gb but that would leave you no room for manouver and you'd soon have space problems.
