Q about repeat results

Am I right in saying that we get the results on sept 13??

Well if so then how come I got this letter saying that we have to re-register by sept 14th??

Is it a case of going into the college with the reg money and all that or trying to find some really fast postman? :)

If you have any doubt ring the registry, the number is online and probably in that letter.

I think re-registering is related to starting the year over, not just passing repeat exams.

    Good luck.

Got the same one myself and scared the be-jeezuz out of me. The registration fee is to do with the year, im paying up anyway...

Its your college fee's for the year, its called the registration fee, but it has nothing to do with your registration.

You just have to pay it in your bank on or before the 14th of September, then keep the receipt part they give to you and present it at registration in the first week of Semester 1.

Do you still have to pay the "registration fee" if you are repeating a single module next year? ie. just coming in for the test.

IMO DCU is a really crappy college, no advice or support if you have to repeat exams

    What exactly do you want?

A trained counsellor to call out to your house with your exam results with a box of Kleenex and the offer of a shoulder to cry on?

Or alternatively for the more hardline out there, a visit from the A-Team the offer to go and "Mess that lecturer's shit up"?

You're expected to be an adult when you go to university, things won't be handed to you on a platter, you have to go and look for the information yourself. If you're not prepared to do that, then you're obviously not ready for university yet. You think college is tough like that?

Wait 'til you get out in the real world.

Better than UCD which, from my sister's reports, is bad enough just trying to sit them the first time round. And like Redegg said, pass them the first time then

I just found it a difficult experience, I went and spoke to my class co-ordinator after I failed the exams and explained to him that I was going through a hard time with personal issues and I just found him to be cold and dis-interested. Thats just my prsonal experience and if Igave the impression that no one gives a s*^t sorry.

Perhaps you should have spoken to the co-ordinator before you did badly in exams?

To them it probably just appears like you're making excuses after a bad result.

IN the fees booklet it says repeat fee for a modual is 440euro(or round that fee) is that for sitting just the exam or is that for going to lectures and also sitting the exam?

Merlinsmerryman: can I ask what course your doing?Ive also had alot of personal issues this year but I did keep my course coorinadtor informed so he wsa pretty fair to me and very helpful. Some coordinators thoguh, friends have told me,are very ignorant and unhelpful :(

The A-Team is awesome. They would totally do that if the lecturer had a sideline in oppressing some indigenous peoples or damaging the environment. And there would probably be a montage/montages (or is that motajay?).

    *cough*

Did general science and found it ok at start got to know people, friend of mine and my cousin where on another scince course so got to know some people on their course. I did speak to him after exams but i missed one cause a friend of mine who I lost touch with was seriously ill in England and I found out so went and spent a lot of time over there I know all my own doing it just i got impression that my class co-ordinator didnt give a hoot what I said

Im sure they've heard every excuse in the book so I suppose they have to be suspicious of everyone.

As a rule Id take some photographic evidence or some sort of official documentation like a doctors cert.

You can do a singular module repeat (attendance and exam) for about €400 and something.

I know because I did it.

What happens is you pay the usual €800 (it was still only 700ish when I did it) and then because you only register on registration day for the one module you can ask them for a partial refund. You should get the 400 or whatever the module costs taken from your registration fee, and the rest is sent back to you in a cheque in the post. :)

So the 440euro quoted in the fees booklet is to repeat modual and be able to attend lectures and exam?Im egtting conflicting statements here :S

Merlinsmerrymen: ye if you gather revidence,an offical sick cert from your friends doctor, tickets stubs showing dates you flied over and present them to your course coordinator hell be forced to take that into consideration. The only thing is he probable tell you if this was the case you should have submitted an extrenuating circumstances form and its actually gone to late to submit one for the autumn repeats :(

I guess all you can do wait for your results, see what they are like and if you only fail one or two plead with your course coordinator to let you go through to second year and allow you repeat the first year subjects within second year along with your second year subjects

Well I'm just telling you from my own experience.

Why not get in touch with the Registry and ask them what the situation is. Either way you have to pay the full registration fee firstly, then you'll get whatever amount of money back depending on what route/ option you decide to take.

    :)

*sigh* All comes down to money in the end.

Ah well, looks like I can kiss my plans to get an LCD monitor and decent sound system goodbye :)
