I've decided to relocate to Ireland after 5 years working in England in a large multinational engineering/manufacturing company.

Anyone got tips on where to start looking for jobs, deciding where to live, etc.? Ideally, I'd like to work in a large company with a young, social workforce (I'm in mid 20's). Engineering (mech), projects/consultancy/design field.

    Help pleeease!

I guess you can start with www.irishjobs.ie and www.monster.ie. That should give you an idea of where the jobs are.

    If I can mention my employer :) - http://www.staff.ie - as well :D

You should be able to get a job in your field, but if not, there are plenty of other "lesser" jobs you can take while you look for something better.

Use http://www.daft.ie to find a flat.

Do you have savings? As in, can you afford to come to Ireland and be unemployed for a month or two while you look for a job? Might be the best option (a lot of recruitment websites will not pass on your CV to the employer if you are not already in Ireland.)

    Thanks Eoin S, dublindude.

I have some savings, but relatively miniscule (I'm a big spender, ;o) ), so would rather have a job lined up before I leave UK... although, working behind a bar could be cool. Never did that kind of work!
An Irish friend recently returned to Ireland and immediately noticed the rise in the price of living so I think I'll need all my savings for that alone..

I didn't realise that agencies may not forward my CV to employer if I'm not based in Eire already. Will have to check that out.

Pity I didn't study Structural Engineering, there seems to be loads of jobs in that field, now that the country has eventually started building motorways, etc.!!

I've heard of surveys listing 'Top 100 Companies to work for in Ireland' and the like. Anyone know where i can find such info, or similar?

The whole relocation thing is all quite exciting really!!
