2 hands before the break. I have about 4.5K chiops blinds are 75/150.
Villain has about a mountain of chips say ~14K.. He does not appear to be very experienced..he called for about 1/3 his stack with 32s!! He raises to 1K from UTG. I have AA in the BB. This could be lots of hands, he is getting more confident and has won more posts than the rest of table combined... It's folded to me, I call. Flop comes 5 2 3. I go all in.......
    What do yizzers think!?

harbour a guess that he had A4 and it's just one of those hands! Or maybe he had K5 etc and proceeded to river a king? I'm only swinging in the dark. Because of what you say about this player, it's simply impossible to put him on a range of hands. Although the fact that he raised (as opposed to calling a raise) preflop, suggests his hand looked pretty. Big pair maybe?

Thnx Jtsuited..My question would be; How did i play it? I wanted to double up..As you said I reckon he had a pair or AK...

I don't think the way you played the hand was terrible, but you might get him to call for 1/3 of his stack here with a hand he thought was good enough to raise preflop.

I don't think you played it incorrectly Amarillo but as Roundtower said, if he's going to call for a 1/3 of his chips with 23 suited then he'll probably call your all in pre flop after already committing 1000. What table were you at by the way? Was it one of the two downstairs?

Thnks for the replies..Yes I was downstairs at table @ 2 I think. He called in a flash, he had 55 for top set. So I got 75% of my Stack in as underdog....not good... He would have folded to an all-in I think...
Perhaps I should have minraised...and pushed the flop...Same result but more correct...But I was afraid this would telegraph my hand..

It just seemed like an ideal situation to double up!!

I hate it preflop. Why outthink yourself? Hes loose and inexperienced, no need to slowplay anything against him - punish his looseness.

In this instance the only way for me to win the hand was to push pre flop...as he would have folded..
with his 55 I could not get all money in PF, as would be most desirable with AA
He would call my push on the flop with 2 over cards....
So, I'm not sure the optimum play is to push PF.!!!

Why do you think he would fold with 55, but call with 23 preflop, for 1/3 of his sizeable stack each time? I don't think I have ever seen a player who plays like this.

I was at the end of your table Amarillo, in seat 3 I think. I remember the hand now, it was really harsh. That guy was terrible but hitting left right and centre. I don't think he's folding preflop though, I saw him call at other stages with 44 and A7 (I think) for alot of chips. Basically you just got unlucky. Do you remember a hand earlier when you limped, I raised, got one caller and you reraised to about 1500, with both of us folding. AA?

    Again thanks for responses.
After this hand I thought I played it ok. now I think I played it poorly esp considering opponent....Roundtower, good point..When he called with 23s it was a multiway pot with one guy all in.
Hi Daitho, yeah I remember the hand it was your first hand on the button. I was fairly sure you would raise on the button(I was chatting to your Dad he says u do it alot!!!)..and my intention was to limp reraise I had 88. How did u get on...

I actually had AJ that time, put you on alot stronger than that, good move. I'm not nearly as aggressive as my Dad thinks, it's just that he's such a rock that he thinks I'm a maniac in comparison! I never really got going in that one, went out shortly after the break after going all in with an open ender, called by top pair with no improvement.
