Does anybody still think it's a good idea to download music via Bit Torrent considering IRMA are taking actions against Irish file sharers?

No need to wory about IRMA if you use Bittorent

For information on how IRMA operate see.

The movie industry are (Hollywood) the only one suing bittorrent users and they only operate in the USA. However you should excercise caution and run a firewall (recommended) and IP blocker, also be careful about contact details if you register on a BT tracker site, some sites have been raided and this information seized by the Movie industry.

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

You will find that some people have received calls from their ISP - BT in particular to say that a particular movie studio has tracked them sharing a movie using bittorrent. Not aware of any prosecutions yet though. As the previous says - be careful and use all the tools available.

I know of a few people from browsing other boards who got called up by their ISP about Star Wars 3 and it being shared over torrents....but they were Americans.

BT were supposed to have rung up a couple of people...but who can verify if those who posted such info were not actually working for BT themselves and just wanted to scare people(George Lucas actually blamed torrents for the poor showing of his film in Cinemas....and not that it was shít)!

Tracking torrent use is not what ISP's do as its too manpower intensive...they or groupls like IRMA would employ companies like Media Sentry for such tracking....and we all know how long that takes!!!
