Any idea as to who will be playing when?!
They're keeping very tight lipped about the time table, but surely someone knows something

They are doing an Oxegen in an attempt to make people purchase the 10 euro neckbands with the timetable on them.

I posted this on the official forums site but don't know how naziasc they are when it comes to folks slagging them off (rightly so) on their own site...

Isn't knowing the times the bands (who you are paying to see) are playing kind of your consumer right. releasing an unofficial timetable on the officail site is crap, it's an excuse to make last minute changes and charge through the nose for programmes that could be printed on half page flyers and distributed for free (lowlands gave free full 30 page programmes and printed free daly lowlands-newspapers with revisions) all this crap about contractual obligations to merchandisers, who do you think they are talking about? the guys selling t-shirts don't give a crap it you don't know when goldfrapp are playing a week before the festival, the gougers who sell laminated programme cards (which take time to print, so descrepencies between "leaked" and official can be seen to be intentional) have a huge vested intrest in keeping you from knowing vital information that by right you have already paid for.

You have to ask yourself what is next? in a couple of years, people will accept that paying for programmes, and they'll start charging you into each tent, to take a piss into a stinking hole in the ground, whatever they can think of to seporate you from your hard earned. My advice? don't buy a programme, but pester and annoy those who do for the time of the next gig. the people who do buy programmes will have such a crap time that no one will ever buy them again.

Also last years Electric Picnic was a disgrace in terms of organisation, the queues for beer were miles long, (a friend of mine queued at the wine bar, the shortest queue for 2 hours, missed all of soulwax), there wasn't enough busses leaving dublin so those who made their own way there at the last minute couldn't get home on the bus because you couldn't buy a 1 way ticket (we camped in the woods tho). we have plenty of money to give you greedy feckers if you can manage to organise a ride in a brothel not by selling us what we have already paid for.

Not releasing timetables for festivals is absolutely disgraceful. I believe this is practised in the UK as well as here.

In comparison the program for Belgium's Pukkelpop festival was released three weeks before the event. Not only that, but numorous guides were readily available at the site and any last-minute changes were updated at notice boards on the day.

Really though, if I do not see a timetable for any music festival, the chances of me going are slim to none. With unavoidable clashes and what not, I want to know what I want to see. Won't be going to Electric Picnic so.

Again its a sign of a bad festival, Glastonbury timetables were on the web ahead of time, a bag of goodies incl. timetable were given out on the way in and there was a free daily newspaper containing an updated timetable for that day in case of changes. People need to boycott buying these timetables, surely there will be a leak in the next few days.

I'd advise you to keep you eye on the electric picnic forums. Bits of information seem to pop up every so often.

Think I'll play it safe though and one one of those neck things between around 10 fo us.

Its crap really, I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of my favour bands but this fiasco over the timetable is a bit of a joke. I'd probably get a timetable anyway because there a good reference to what you might have seen when your hungover monday morning.

Anyone got any insight on travelling to stradbally looking to head down on friday evening but there isn't a public bus from dublin after 6 and I've no idea how to get from Portlaoise to stradbally if I get the train.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 154 ✭✭GadgetFiend

someone posted a dodgy looking pdf of oxegen times before oxegen

a lot of people dismissed it cos it had bjorn again as headliners on the saturday night...turns out it was dead accurate.

saved me a few quid anyway, thanks whoever you were taht posted it, and can you do it again for ep??

    I saw this somewhere else
For anyone going to the electric picnic by rail i was just speaking to the people running the shuttle bus service:

    Martleys Coaches Portlaoise,
    Kilminchy, Dublin Rd., Portlaoise
    Tel: 0502/20888
    Email: mmartleytransport@eircom.net

They are running a bus for every train that arrives into portlaoise station and a bus leaves the site of the gig an hour before each scheduled train service for people getting home.
Apparantly its only a 7 miles journey and the tickets are 5 euro......

I really think people should chill out a little. I am going to ep on the sat. Yes its unfair we have to buy them.. but you dont have to... just ask people, the boards, screens will all have the info. I really dont care as long as i get to see the Arcade fire.. I really think i am going to explode at this or s*hit my self! no really.

Also does this festival have a bad rep for bands dropping out?? Im hearing the subways and the rakes(on their site) have both pulled..

One change I know of is to the Crawdaddy stage on Sunday. Channel One are now at 4.30, but I don't know how that affects the rest of the acts - I presume someone dropped out. One of the lads in work is in Channel One and told me this, so it's reliable info. They're worth checking out if you're in the vicinity of the stage.
