    Hello,
I have just opened a new shop selling supplements in Dublin City centre in Camden St. I don't think I am breaking any rules by posting this but if I am I'm sorry and I'll delete it.
Anyway we are selling everything you could need for weight training, fat loss and anything to do with fitness.
I can say confidently that we are the cheapest in Ireland and even cheaper than most irish and english sites! For example we have:
2lbs of Designer Whey for only 27.50EUR
5lbs of Prolab Pure Whey for only 46.99EUR
600g of Prolab Creatine for only 28.99EUR
    10lbs of Prolab N-large 2 for only 69.99EUR
Xenadrine EFX 120 caps for only 39.99EUR
Myoplex Deluxe 20 sachets only 54.99EUR
    Prolab Amino 2000 325 tabs only 34.99EUR
This is just an example of our prices we have many many more products in stock.
I am only 23 but have been lifting for about 6 years and was sick of paying crazy prices for supplements (without menchioning names cough cough tony quinn cough) and decided to buy a container in from the states in bulk so that is why I can afford to be so cheap. I am open three weeks now and the response is great so far but now its all about just getting the word around.
I am right beside Flannerys Pub on Camden St and open 12-8 monday to friday and 10-6 saturday.
Anyway thanks for your attention and if you have any questions please let me know.
    Thanks
    Mickk

Do you sell maltodextrin? What is the price if you do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Mickk

I don't have pure maltodextrin but I do have a malto/dextrose powder mix called ultra fuel. It comes in orange or fruit punch and has 100g of carbs per drink. Its specially designed as a pre and during workout drink. 3.3lbs is 24.99

well it looks like the supplement scene here is picking up by the day...
a new online store is about to open with even better prices!!

    the testsite is
    http://protein-test.g2gm.com/
and eventually www.protein.ie will be THE cheapest place to buy top quality supplements in ireland. (site not ready yet)

As you can see from the site the prices and products are excellent and are all top brands. No tony quinn repackaged tripe here.

check it out and see. I highly recommend it and all this can only be good for the irish consumer scene.

    examples of prices are:
    Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey: Cost: 10lbs, €75; 5lbs, €40, 2lbs, €22
    Met-RX Supreme Whey: Cost: 5lbs, €45
Optimum Nutrition BCAA: Cost: 200 caps, €22
    Champion Nutrition Creatine Xtreme:Cost: 4lbs, €40

Cheers joc! That's my site folks... In case anyone wants a direct comparison, 2lbs designer whey is actually free with the E45 5lbs tub for all suppliers... so it's free with a 5lbs tub... 1kg glutamine is only E55, 1kg creatine (micronised) only E40... etc

I can get muscletech etc too, but my advice is keep the money you'd save by buying ON or Next Proteins and spend it on something else. Muscletech and maximuscle are totally overpriced and no difference in quality between them and most other brands (ON, prolab, next proteins, abb, inner armour, cytosport etc).

I've yet to see lower prices in Ireland...

jman0: Sorry about that Brian my the other fella I am running the shop with was supposed to be in there but was out drinking the night before and didn't come in till eleven... It wont happen again.

mart_max: I think muscletech is a good brand I just think they have to pay for their 20 pages in flex every month some how and it comes from your pocket... A good protein is a good protein don't worry about brand names just get a reputable company and check the label and see whats actually in it! Whey Protein Isolate is better than whey protein concentrate and the second ingredient should be some form of glutamine. After that it just comes down to taste and price... Were you looking for any specific muscletech products or just protein?

easygainer: to be honest mate you should be alot cheaper. You are 5EUR cheaper on 2lb protein, 7EUR cheaper on 5lb protein, 9EUR cheaper on MRP, same price on creatine and creatine delivery, same price fat burner, we are 4EUR cheaper on protein bars. The only thing is that you are using all cheaper brands. Optimum is the cheapest brand, it has a higher concentrate percentage and no added glutamine in their protein. I could easily match and beat them prices if I carried optimum and champion, even though I have rent, rates, insurance, fittings and all the rest of the bills associated with having a shop. You have none of these expenses so you should be alot cheaper.

    thanks mick for the reply

to let you know, i just saw in workout world on the quay selling supplements on the shelves off by 20% - 25%. i'm not sure the retail pricing there thou. but i asked abt one N Large 2 (not sure how it weights - maybe 1.5lbs) selling around €40 after the discounts. after looking at your pricing

to be honest, i'm not sure where i'm going now.... i've been in the gym nearly 3 months, relying on muscletech celltech. yes i think they overpriced. physical wise, i'm 5' 8, 10stones, slim build. after 3 months, i didn't gain or loss any weight but reduced my belly size (fr 31.5 to 32) and biceps grew by nearly 2 inch (hoping for bigger and stronger arms).

i think i must go for something to help me bulking up, rather than just creatine. oouch, what makes the diff if i take on n-large2 compared wt 100% pure whey?

food wise, i'm bad - i could hardly eat good meals 4-5 times a day. stucked on desk everyday. other than that, i always avoid taking too much sugar, coffee, coke and junk food. i do think i should hv done better for the last 3 months!

    Hey mate,
yea they have n-large2, its 3.8lb it was 50EUR and with the 25% discount it is 40EUR. We have 6lb for 49.99EUR (3.8lb works out at 31.66EUR) or 10lb a bucket for 69.99EUR (3.8lb works out at 26.59EUR).

The cell tech is good but I'm glad you realise that its overpriced. We have a product that is nearly identical to celltech, the only thing it doesnt have is the ala which we have in caps if you want it. Its called Micronised Creatine HSC by AST Sports Science. It uses the same science of glucose delivery system and insulin spike to absorb creatine as celltech and but costs alot less, 4lbs is only 39.99EUR.

100% Pure Whey is just pure whey protein so it has no fat or carbs, it is better if you want very lean muscle gain but it will take longer to gain weight.
N-large2 is a weight gainer, it has protein, carbs and good fats to really pile on weight rather than just smaller amounts of lean muscle. It has 600 calories per serving so you will definately put on weight but if you are prone to putting on fat or on a calorie restricted diet I would not reccommend it...
    What are your goals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭MartMax

    dear mick

i'm trying to get bigger and stronger not necessarily gain more weight.

so i guess i'm going for the whey then.

my office is near lesson park, maybe drop down to your shop after work tomorrow. i assume you r opened till 8. so... we can hv a proper chat tomorrow :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,513 ✭✭✭BrianD3

Mickk, I might be interested in a weight gain supplement such as the n-large2 that you mentioned. What flavour does it come in? What's the taste like? I am fussy about taste and can't stand sickly sweet supplements. You say it has 600 calories per serving but what is the serving size? My experience of weight gainers is that they are not that "calorie dense" so you need to weigh out a large quantity of powder (and as a consequence blend with a large quantity of liquid) to get a decent amount of calories.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Mickk

mart_max: yea 8, its nearly nine now and I'm still here... See you tomorrow mate

BrianD3: Alright mate, the nlarge comes in choc, strawberry and vanilla, the vanilla is probably the least sweet. Nlarge is a quality gainer rather than some others on the market that just get their calories from sugar... That is often why gainers are v sweet but nlarge is very nice.
In relation to serving size its 4 scoops or 152g which isn't as big as some of the gainers out there at the mo but you get 86g of mostly complex carbs and 52g of protein from that. I usually only mix it with 400-500ml of liquid.

    mick k:

I don't know where you're getting your info from but a simple look at the label of Optimum products shows you 4g glutamine and 5g bcaas per serving. Regardless, my E55 for 1kg glutamine coudln't be beaten anyway. Optimum also has more isolate than concentrate (again, read the label) and finally, if comparing it to designer:
    1) ON has 24g protein per scoops, designer has 20g
    2) ON tastes better (esp in straw and choc)
    3) ON mixes better

Secondly, I don't see where you are coming from on the issue of prices...should we ignore that your products cost 5,7 and 9 euro more? That adds to about E40 per month for the average gym rat. It's also a lot less hassle to get free delivery than it is to traipse into town, find parking or lug a bag of weight gainer onto a bus!

Finally, I do have lower overheads but that's reflected in the price. Bodybuilding.com is cheaper than any shop but noone's complaining about that because it has lower overheads - price is price and if I can provide a cheaper alternative by selling online, why not if it's more convenient?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,001 ✭✭✭Mickk

My point is that with my much higher overheads you should be able to sell your cheaper brand for less than a few euros cheaper than my prices.

In relation to your per scoop differences dont forget your scoops are bigger so of course you are going to get more protein, its a bigger serving. Per 2lb optimum you get 31 servings and per 2lb Designer you get 40 servings...
Protein percentages per weight are the same.
ON tastes better and ON mixes easier are only opinions and my opinions differ but I will stick to the facts rather than opinions.

You also get naturally occuring glutamine and "glutamine percursors" in whey protein so check the label and see if it is fortified with extra glutamine or not and then check the Designer label. ON has none added where Designer has it listed right after protein in the ingredients...

If anyone is interested I can supply you with 1kg of Sports One Pure L-Glutamine Powder for 50EURO.
Let me know if there is interest and I will get it...

I can't believe the amount of pimpage on this thread. If you guys want to advertise your businesses why don't you cough up the money for a banner ad and an interaction board?

    Good idea
