Anyone know if these are on sale in Ireland?

Have found sites in UK that sell them - best probably is Outside In - but currency makes it expensive (they are expensive anyway). Plus Stg£15 postage - what a rip off!! Seems Boots may supply Outside In products but on Boots website its in Stg£ and just more expensive anyway.

Are also on US websites but voltage difference means you can only get international models so poor choice & also expensive.

    Any ideas???

re the general merit of them, seem to be good opinion that they work, no side effects unless on manic phase of manic depression, VHI site describes them.

Don't know if I subscribe to the whole SAD theory. Bad weather and dark winter days can make us feel a little down, but isn't that normal? Or maybe we evolved to hibernate during the winter, and SAD is an effect of us not following our genetic path. In which case I say no more working for October through to March for all! Yay!

yes, giving up winter work was my first choice too but .......

Theres a bit of science to it (and it does make intuitive sense), overproduction of melatonin etc. etc. as I said I cant debate the technicalities but VHI site covers them.

Way I see it, worst it could be is an expensive lamp for nothing - and sure theres people buying those daily without ever hearing of SAD :)

Yeah that's true. Best of luck with the lamp, I'm going to try my remedy and climb into bed for a few months of hibernation! :)

Along with my patented alcohol cleanse for ulcers I will soon have my own branch of medicine! :D

SAD is real and is a variant of mild depression. People with this have a dip in their mood related to the seasons and specifically reduced daylight. The lamps do work and are worth the investment because you will only need one. The USA models can be made to work on irish electricity with the aid of a transformer that can be bought here. Remember if you order from the US, you need to pay Duty on it at around 30% unless you can get a relative to post it as a gift.

    About a year ago I bought a ' Tensor lamp ' from; www.qvcuk.com/
Tensor lights produce full spectrum white light that mimics the quality of 'Sunlight' .

They are an American product, are very reasonably priced, and the special bulb life is around 10,000 hours !.

I purchased mine for reading and too cut out the glare from my computer screen. Now I have three around the house and would never go back to using ordinary lamps ever again. They are also very cool to use, considering the amount of very bright light they give off.

Go on to the QVC website, the product code's are 822219 @ £STG 27.00 + P&P for the table model, or 822258 for £STG 33.00 + P&P.For the larger floor standing model.

They are not selling them for SAD , but apparently the bulbs are the same as those used in the very expensive lamp's sold for SAD ?...

With QVC, you have a 30 day no quibble returns policy, whereby; if you are not completely satisfied after trying any of their products, you can simply return them for a complete/full refund.

Hope that helps, good luck ;) .

    P.
