An Optics/Opthalmology Question

Just a curiosity from both a personal and inquisitive viewpoint. I've searched a bit for information on this and can't seem to find much.

What I'm interested in is prism prescriptions. When a prism is added to a corrective lens in one lens only. Afaik it indicates a musculature issue, imbalance or such.

I was just curious if there was much information available on this. There's a lot on standard corrective lenses and spherical/cylindrical lenses but little to nothing on this. It's something I'd like to learn more about. Both for personal reasons and because I'm curious and love learning about optics. My knowledge of them is just a tad on the theoretical side.

The speciality concerned is orthoptics if you wish to google further, yes they are used for correction of a divergent/convergent strabismus (squint).

Strabismus can be caused by poorly developed musculature, but can also be caused by higher neurological control.

Orthoptics is not my speciality and indeed is not the speciality of a normal optometrist you would meet on the high street. There is a lab in the Eye and Ear Hospital which concerns itself with this but I am unsure where else in ireland.
