    Had this discussion with some friends recently. If you were to be a brand, what brand would you be? What brand do you think most accurately reflects your person? And why?

    Depends in what context the brand is, I'd be the one always there but never noticed

    But even if you are one who rejects "brands", you still fall into just another category - so you go for the "non-brand" brands.

    well i think in the long term they do
    it becomes the 'new and cool thing to do'

    example=punk movement

    not so punk anymore
    all you see are these try hard kids that believe that are rejecting society when theyve got their ipods in their pockets and are all trying to dress the same.

    Do you understand the concept of mainstream?

    And how can something which is "New and a cool thing to do" be related to Long term? Defeats the purpose of it being a "fad" ..

    i most certainly understand the concept of mainstream

    i guess what i was getting at is that certain movements that try to avoid the mainstream become it eventually, straying from its original purpose. the masses catch on and it inevitable becomes the 'new and cool thing to do.'

    I'd be Coca Cola, because I'm bubbly. And too much of me makes people sick. :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 162 ✭✭miss_gonzo

    well, speaking from what ive seen where i live, i'd say the punk and hippie style (not going to call it a movement because it mostly is just the adaption of a style that stemmed from movements)
    and, this being more specific, the many who were che guavara's image as if he were an accessory not even aware of his historical significane. it seems as though its no longer a statment to were his image, its just a popularly consumed now.

    its just an irony i've noticed, generally speaking, it seems that fighting the mainstream eventually results in joining it.
