Yeah, if you can find one here or youll certainly pay for it...they have/had a lovely black flame topped one with a maple fingerboard in musician inc, but its very expensive...Ishibashi seems to be the way to go for these guitars...

I wouldnt be mad about that rgt though, simply because places like guitarbargains make the prestige (japanese) range very affordable, and the difference between korean and japanese is well worth the extra few quid..but thats just my opinion (having owned a few of each)

I have my eyes on this J Custom in particular. :D

Ya know, I don't think any production model guitar does anything for me any more. I've been spoiled by custom shop gorgeousness.

Well can you see me with this colour:

    Hmm? No, don't think so.

Seriously though, that J Custom is as the doc once put it, top of GAS mountain. Flamed maple top, Mahogany back. And the absolute icing on the cake, as the lads at Ishibashi put it:
DiMarzio AIR NORTON 7 and TONE ZONE 7 are adopted for picking up, and ..fat.. sound is achieved more solemnly.

Perfection methinks. Sheer ****ing perfection right there.

You're putting that above a custom Leviathan and a Ernie Ball 7 String Petrucci with piezo? Seriously?

No. There's no ONE guitar, but as far as an Ibanez 7 String goes, that is perfect. My Stealth should also be perfection, but it's a totally different guitar to the J Custom, you dig? As a custom Leviathan or Petrucci is different again, but both should certainly be perfection.

Personally, I don't think it's top of the GAS mountain. Not by a long shot.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Well what would be for you then?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Custom shop ESP/LGM/Orsmby/other small shop.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Yes, but what specs? Because the specs on that J-Custom are pretty damned perfect.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

There's lots of different specs. The ESP would be:

    M-II Body
    Alder body
    Maple neckthrough
    Reversed Pointed headstock
    Ebony fretboard
    Dunlop 6100 frets
    No inlays
    Blue Fibre Optic side dots
    Dual EMG 81's
2 vol, 1 tone, 3 way slotted switch
    Black Lo-Floyd Rose
Black gloss on body, neck and head.
    ESP (Name) on head
    Dunlop Strap Locks
    Sperzel Locking Tuners

    Think that's about it.

I'd much rather Mahogany than Alder myself, but you're right on the old Ebony Fretboard with no inlays there, that's certainly something the J-Custom is lacking.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

TBH, it's a Kirk Hammett spec without inlays...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Methinks I'd go for that J Custom over the ESP.
How much would that cost though?
