new motherboard trouble

    im gettin a new motherboard for my comp im just wondering will all my data and os still be on my hard drive..when i disconnect it and put it back in my new motherboard

    Yes. Will it boot is another question. You might need to run a repair to get everything redetected...

    if its the exact same motherboard then you'll be fine, if its a different motherboard you may have some driver problems in which case you'll need to reinstall some drivers, nic drivers being the most obvious, also if you made any changes in the bios you'll ahve to make them again

    also if you have win xp, with such a major hardware change it will ask you to reactivate it.
    driver installation should be no problem just install from the cd.

    TBH you'd be better off backing up your data and then reinstalling windows, so thats its a fresh install from scratch.

    no im gettin a new motherboard..processor ..ram and graphics card...im not too worried about the data on the hd just the operatin system..will that still work...

    i can just install the drivers off the cd i get with it..

    do you not have an OS on cd?
    and yes all the drivers are on the cd with it, it will do an autorun and install the drivers then on next reboot windows will do the found new hardware thing.

    no i dont have it on a c.d....so will my operating system still be on the harddrive

    It will still be there but you would be much better off starting from scratch with a clean install of XP.
