Was in the UK earlier this week. While there I thought I would get some fireworks for Haloween. I was told that they cannot be bought until some time in October. Is this the same up the North?

Did you look? As far as I know they can be bought at anytime in the UK.

as far as i know u can buy them anytime in the uk. as i bought some in april and drove back with them on hss and never got caught.:D

yeah there is not a market but people that owe a firework business cannot keep closed for most of the year as they wouldnot be able to live so they have to keep open.

anyway on the hss you donot even get searched so its simple to bring it back.:D

i suppose around this time of year they would be looking out for fireworks, but say at march or so they wouldnt, anyways on the topic of fireworks the neighbour across the road seems to be "testing" out his, right now and jeez is there some bang off them.

Reminds me of some prats down the road from us that used to terrify the dog by 'testing' their fireworks. At about 1 in hte morning.

Can't see too many popular times for fireworks other than Halloween and maybe New Years.

The shop you looked in probably just didn't have any in stock. It's a seasonal thing, they probably only get them in stock a month before.

Right on the newry boarder, literally only about 100ft from the republic is a shop that sells fireworks

I tried 2 different shops, was told the same thing. I have found out since it is a voluntary code, but most shops seem to observe it.
Whats the craic with the new licence in the North for purchasing fireworks. Is it enforced?
