Wireless Education Required

    Hi All,

I hope someone can educate me as to what I need to get wireless internet access in my home. I have an existing (Wanadoo) broadband connection for my desktop in the house and have just recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 2200 with a 1.4 Celeron M processor. According to the spec it comes with a WLAN (802.11 ???) network card (forgive my inexperience on this) and essentially what I wish to know is what do I now require to make the laptop pick up a signal from the broadband modem to allow me wireless internet access? Do I require additional hardware (router, adapter, network card)? In my Wanadoo literature they offer a wireless service for £4.00 p/m extra, so do I just have to revise my subscription?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Is the Wanadoo connection DSL?

If so get one of these babies http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000TZ8Z8/ref=br_ce_ts_2//026-2528528-9458037 I have had one on a UTV DSL connection for the last 3 months and it is excellent. Fairly easy to setup as well.

Cheers Gandalf. The wanadoo connection states ADSL on the modem. Is the router all I need? Do I need some sort of receiver for the laptop as well?

The 2200 has a wireless card (WLAN!) already installed. So the router is all you should need.

Naw that Netgear unit is also a modem as well. You just need your Wanadoo username and password for it.
