Smoking? Sexy?

I think it's ridiculously sexy, although I don't smoke and never will.

And before you start, I know it causes cancer and makes you smell bad (matter of opinion) and makes your teeth yellow. I'm talking about the actual act. It's sexy on both sexes, from film noirs to the whole post-coital light-up. I'm male and straight, btw.

Is that Rachel Weisz in the last one? She is even sexier with the cig. I do find myself attracted to women smokers though and I think it's sexy. As you say though, to each his own and most guys would find it a turn off in a woman.

personally it only shows me a persons greatest weakness, a person who sucks down chemicals and smoke knowing it will hurt them and the people around them isnt sexy, its actually a put off.

We're not talking about the smell from constant smoking that SOME people get, or the bad teeth or the health effects.

We're talking about if holding and/or smoking a cigarette makes a person cooler/sexier.

I know. And I love smoking, I really do. And yes, I think it makes people look cool and sexy (until you kiss them, ick), and it makes your heartbeat speed up. And there's nothing that cures the horror of deep grief better, temporarily, than a cigarette.

But even when we're thinking about coolness and sexiness and the good things that tobacco can do, I think we have to bear in mind the fact that one in three smokers will die from smoking-related diseases.

I could write 10 pages here on why not to smoke but I think we all get the point.

I never thought it was sexy to see someone smoke,
I always thought it was gross.
Especially when they have finished thier cig and try to talk to you and thier bad breath hits you smak in the face, gross.

Its just an ignorant thing to say smoking makes you look sexy but then again thats what the advertising companies want you to believe...so congratulations for being one of the millions who fell into thier advertising scheme.
Its the sexy factor and the Hollywood factor more than anything that makes people start, because they want to be cool like *them*
Peer pressure falls in there too but mostly people start this habbit on thier own accord for reasons listed above.

One of the first Onion articles I ever laughed like a drain at was "Revealed: Secondhand Smoking linked to Secondhand Cool". It was illustrated by before-and-after pics - the "before" pic showing a nerd in thick glasses, the "after" one the same nerd after breathing in secondhand smoke, in cool-looking shades.

The trouble with cancer is that it has something like a 30-year lag. So the person who looks so cool smoking at 20 is eaten alive by cancer at 50.

By the way, there was a fascinating study of cancer in Europe that initially baffled researchers. They found that people in mountainy areas of France and Italy (if I remember this right) had high levels of cancer, even though they didn't actually smoke that much.

When they studied the smoking behaviour more deeply, they discovered that the smokers tended to smoke when they were drinking spirits - say Calvados, for instance. The combination of smoking with spirits was especially lethal.

Nobody has said that, ever. When people say that smoking makes a person look sexy, they mean a sexy person look even sexier.

Smokers STINK!!..the foul breath and rank cloths smell..the only way that's attractive is under the influence..and i mean under 16 bulmers/scrumpy jack etc influence.

Pic's of ppl smoking make me think..a) their breath must stink b) they probably stink c) i'm glad they aren't near me.

in my humble opinion smoking is a very sexy lookfor alot of people. some still look mingin. smokin does give an elegant sexier image, a sexy attitude or whatever.

Well if someone said to you.."is being kicked in the balls sexy" ..the actual act ... not the doubling up in pain and becoming infertile.

I suppose as an ex-smoker am looking at this in a different light, before i ever smoked I couldnt understand it and thought it a bit silly in a harmless way, now i know its silly in a harmful way.
