What's the point in posting a picture of the exact same console that everyone else has?

I think making a list of homebrew or games that you use would be a better idea tbh.

Just looking at your picture there and noticed the clear plastic thing on the bottom right. Does that protect the PSP in some way? If so does it come in the standard value pack?

This isn't going to be one of those wierd fetish things like they have on eBay where people take photos of monitors and TVs with their nude bodies reflected in the screens?

Once you find a hack for firmware 2.00, be sure to let me know.

Ridge Racer is mostly Japanese, but you can get by. The manual is in Japanese too.
Lumines is 99% English. Again, Japanese manual.
WipEout Pure is English, since it's the American version.

    I seriously agree with dregin!

This has to be one of the saddest threads to hit boards.
Make one on psp accesories instead.

    Qz you scare me sometimes!:)

Oh so it is Multi-national since you can use an American Wipeout on a Jap PSP.
A lasie at Game (or GameStop) told me that you have to work a Jap game with a Jap PSP ect.

    She was ofcourse wrong.

    Hey guys,
Anyone get a PSP with version 1.50 firmware?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,227 ✭✭✭✭Sparky

ive a jap PSP with ver 1.51.

the issue with the games is that all regions will play on any PSP so a jap game will work in a european PSP and visa versa

the only region specific things are the UMD movies region 1 movies will work in the american psp but i bought the jap psp because its region 2 and will play our movie UMD's
the only thing i had to get used to is that X and O are swapped around but only for the psp software not the games.
    X=back
    O=enter

i have an american psp. how do i find out what firmware is running on it. how do i update it and is it really necessary.

I always thought that the games were region free but when I was in gamestop yesterday they had some Wipeout boxes for the launch in sept and they had a region 2 symbol on the back.. why??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,726 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

Go to system settings then system information, something like that anyways, its in the section with battery information i think. And then it tells you the MAC address , firmware version and psp name.

games are definitely region free ( movies arent), probably just says region 2 as i dont think you could play for example against a person with a US version of wipeout while you had a european version of wipeout (over wifi). As the games arent 100 percent the same.

At the moment, version 2 isn't really necessary, but it has a number of extra features not available in 1.50 / 1.51 / 1.52 such as a web browser, the ability to share pictures, customisable wallpapers and more playback options for your videos.
But, if you have version 2.0 you can't have any homebrew or hacks, no-one's cracked it yet! It's recommended for owners with American PSPs not to upgrade to version 2.0 as it voids your warranty, but there will be a US version released soon enough I think.

    Hi guys,
When I talk about playing games for FREE I mean ISO's ripped from genuine games, nothing to do with regions. At the moment you can only run the ISO loader on 1.5 firmware....this is why it is CRITCAL not to update your PSP. There are loads of ISO's of games on the net at the mo.

    Cheers

This isn't on topic, can it be moved to another thread?

You'll have to excuse the quality of this pic, my phone doesn't make a great camera.

Nice background koneko. What's with the skin? Did you buy it seperate or just deface your PSP?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Thanks. The front is a skin, you can get them a few places, like here.

The background is a creepy, I'm pretty sure I got that on DeviantArt, I have a few I use but that one seems to suit the screen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

That's cool, so you could take it off any time,is that right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

They say you can, I haven't tried since I put it on, but it's a plasticy material rather than a sticker so it appears to remove easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

Class!, I might have a go at getting one for my soon "to be" PSP.
I most say, It goes well with your screensaver.

This is off thread to a degree, but Firmware has come up....

I got a US vesion of Dead To Rights:Reckoning and used it on my Japanese PSP. The game wont load until you upgrade to v1.5, which is actually on the game UMD.

I'm guessing that some soon to be released European games will do the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

I sure hope not, it's probley that v1.5 of the US, doesn't go with the Jap v1.5.

With Dead to Rights doesn't matter which region the PSP is from or what region firmware it has as long as its 1.5+
