    As above, I just think "lol" is such a great piece of language. It has a meaning all of its own. There are times outside of poker when something happens and all I can think about saying is "lol", but obviously can't because then you look like a freak or a computer geek to non-online poker players - it's not abusive, it's not really laughing blatently at someone else's misfortune, it's just a great phrase and I think it should be used in everyday language IMHO (p.s. in this H = Humble or Honest??)

    Any thoughts on this or any other online words that should be adopted into everyday use??

    I made a utter fool of myself couple of weeks ago cause I though that LOL mean "Lord Oh Lord". as for LMFAO just couldn't figure that out at all. Eventually had to ask. Then a guy on boards said when he saw lol he thought it was someone with hands up in air in celebration. Now thats brillant.

    That is class, a perfect LMFAO post.

    It's always hard starting, I remember starting out I didn't have a clue what people were saying in the chat box, it looked like Chinese for all the sense it made to me, I couldn't even figure out, nh, then ty, until finally I figured it out when someone said nh to me after I won a pot. Duh!! :o

    Ye, I had to look up an on-line dictionary search on google to find out about LMAO it had been wrecking my head. Just couldn't figure that one out at all.

    let's start a few new online poker terms! my suggestions:

    1. When a hand requires complex thought and you are unsure about how to play it;

    type: TBOB: This'll Be On Boards

    2. When someone makes a successful and outrageous bluff with 3-5o on a dangerous flop of something like A-K-Q;

    type: PLHJ: Played Like HectorJelly

    3. When the structure of a tournament is poor and needs significant improvement;

    type: NWBH: NickyOD Won't Be Happy

    For those who hate reading Bad Beat stories, or equally for those who love them aka RoryC, among others.

    Not Another Bad Beat Story- NABBS

    lol
    i think that was me.
    when i started playing online i thought people typed lol as a a symbol of raising their arms in celebration of winning a pot.
    one day i horribly rivered a guy to win a big pot and he typed lol. i said to myself "whats he celebrating about he just lost a big pot"!. it was then i had my first inkling that lol was not a sign of celebration.

    I personally can't stand the look of LOL. I don't know, anytime i see someone say it, it drives me crazy. Nothing against the person who says it though
