If under "Filter Latest Posts" on the front page, I click "Society" I get threads from random(?) non-Soc boards.

Same here, but if you change the URL from
http://www.boards.ie/index.php?filter=society
to
http://www.boards.ie/index.php?filter=soc
it works.
