*** 19.08.05 PARANOID VISIONS, album launch, Tower Records, Wicklow Street,
6pm, FREE, All-Ages, no wristband required.

    PARANOID VISIONS

    Press Release : July 2005

On August 19th, Paranoid Visions will be re-releasing their Vinyl back
catalogue `OUTSIDE IN' on CD for the first time via Toxic Records (Toxic0004).

Formed in 1982, Paranoid Visions were poles apart from the other Irish bands
that graced the 1980's Dublin gig scene. Surprising everyone, including
themselves, with their success in both Ireland and the UK in terms of critical
acclaim and record sales, they maintained a stance outside of the music
industry norms and closely protected their independent status, licensing all of their material directly from their F.O.A.D label.

Records such as Autonomy, Schizophrenia and City Of Screams all sold very well, but it was the attack on the Irish music industry U2 Clone assembly line, in the form of the “I Will Wallow” 10” Ep that brought the band to a wider and more mainstream audience… FOAD2U2 graffiti adorned walls all over the country…. some of it wasn't even done by the band!

In support of the release the band will be playing a number of gigs at home and abroad.

*** 19.08.05 PHIL LYNOTT statue unveiling - Harry Street corner of Grafton
    Street, 6.30pm

The Thin Lizzy legend is to be immortalised in a bronze statue on Dublin's
predestrian shopping street. August 19 promises to be a red letter day for
Philip Lynott aficionados as a lifesize bronze statue of the legendary Thin
Lizzy man is unveiled in Dublin’s Grafton Street. A joint initiative between
Dublin City Council and the Roisin Dubh Trust, the early evening ceremony will be followed by a ticket-only celebration, which is expected to attract Philo fans from all over the world. The festivities take place on the eve of what would have been his 56th birthday, and the street where he shot the famous ‘Old Town’ video.

Philo's mum will be doing the honours!

Excellent in-store @ Tower, a great taster for tonight's Voodoo show! Politicians / Asleep at the Wheel / Kerry Baby song etc, all rocked and have not dated a bit.

    Hats-Off Guys!
