Hi, I have a fairly ****e laptop but it does me for the moment, I have an external HD and an mp3 player which are usb2 compatible, the only way I can get usb2 speeds is through my PCMCIA connection, which I know **** all about.

Can anyone give me advice and what I should do?

Yeah you can get PCMCIA usb 2.0 cards as long as you have Win98SE or greater.

    I got mine at www.a1computers.ie

Can't remember what i paid for it sorry

Cheers, I've seen them on komplett before but they're not around much anymore. Anyway, one guy told me once before that some PCMCIA adapters won't give usb 2 speeds. I don't know if that was bull**** or not, but it put me off buying one.

Anyway, last question....how do you know what type of PCMCIA slot is in a laptop? I've seen one on overclockers that works with a 32-bit, type II CardBus slot, but how do I know if I have that? I can't find it in sys info anywhere.

PS - My laptop is about 3 years old now (P3 1.19Ghz, 256MB).

    Look in Windows Device Manager:
[Start -> control Panel -> (classic view) System -> hardware -> device manager]
check under PCMCIA Adapters for any metion of CardBus or consult your manual/manufacturers website..
