Got this in an email from RTE when i was enquiring about repeats:

Any news on when season 2 starts?
Just I was going to get my uncle in Canada to record it and mail it over but if were only a few episodes behind them there will be no need.

Also will they be showing "The Journey"

Why the fu@k do RTE keep changing the time the programme starts at, its so bloody annoying. I had no idea there were 2 episodes being shown last night, I happenend to flick onto RTE2 at 9:25 and there was Lost half way through!!! So bloody annoying. I didn't hear any announcement for this change after last weeks show. Are they actually trying to lose viewers or what...........

It's nice to see that it is still standing up to RTE ONE's Rip Off Republic show.

Rip Off Republic had 500,000 while LOST had 230,000 viewers.

I see the much hinted "numbers" episode is next week, and it's a Hurley episode too. Looking forward to that one.

    Thank You,

Hearts & Minds has been the most watched episode since Tabula Rasa episode#3.
Plus, The awful Rip Off Republic was up against it so its a big plus. But why do RTE continuely programme hyped up programmes against Lost. In relation to the comparisons between the ratings of Desperate Housewives and Lost I think Lost has held up very well to the likes of Haughey, Rip off Republic, Prime Time Investigations and others while Desperate Housewives had little or no competition and still got virtually the same ratings as Lost. Even though Lost sems to dip week to week it hasn't trailed of significantely since its premiere and there hasn't been a mid-season slump unlike Desperate Housewives. Lost also has been shifted around on Monday 10PM, the 10.10PM 10.05PM back to 10.00Pm and now 9PM. Personally (Pm is a great time as the audience can be bigger and from listening to friends the double episodes fullfill a craving. Also there hasn't been to many breaks during the double bill, there waso nly one midway through Outlaws.

Okay over and out from my imbarressingly fanatical observation and interest of the ratings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

Lost has yet to go out againist Prime Time Investigates.

Was it on during Haughey? I dont think it was. Could be wrong.

Monday is a good night for RTE at the moment.

I think you could say that LOST and Rip Off are both a Tad overhyped.

I am a fan of LOST

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,151 ✭✭✭beanyb

Yeah it was definitely on at the same time as Haughey.

You have to remember about Desperate Housewives that RTE had to compete with Channel4 and e4 since each episode was shown the week before on e4 and the next day on channel 4. Lost doesnt have anything like that.

No matter how you protest RTE will never cease to **** schedules up. They love doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,485 ✭✭✭✭Khannie

Ok, I'll preface this with "my wife works for RTE" and "Even before I met her I independently thought that RTE2 was the best TV channel out there for variety and quality".

We're a nation of 3.8 Million. That's NOTHING. When you couple that with RTE being paid for by the taxpayer it amazes me how good RTE actually are.

Double episodes akimbo! Delighted. Time changes are a bummer, but the schedule is a complex beast. I've met the lady who decides a lot of it, and she has a tough job according to my Mrs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

    Is it hard to schedule?

    1. CSI on a Sunday night rather then Monday night
    2. The Thursday night movie without interuption from the News
    3. Cracking Crime On RTE TWO before CSI NY and Miami (would that not be complementry scheduling). Rather then on RTE One at the same time as both shows.

The scheduler's in RTE need a time out.

I used to think RTE TWO (N2) was the better of the two channels (for that matter most channels, I might even have up it up their with C4) but the schudule is what brings it to its knees.

 I could rant all day on this one but I won't.

Hi, I've updated the ratings up to and including Special. If RTE2 continue to show double episodes the season should finish on September 26th with the final part of Exodus but Pt.2 & Pt.3 should be broadcast together as in America. If rte show Lost: TheJourney with The Greater Good everthing works out fine. I checked the Tv Guide for next week and its another double episode at 9PM. I do wonder when RTE are going to shows season 2. Personally I don't think 2005 but I would love for it to start in January along with Desperate Houswives. There is no reason why they can't it would mean by April/May we will be close to America and the srugle to avoid spoilers might be easier. But BTW have Rte bought season 2?

    John
I am in receipt of your email re above.
I have checked with our Acquisitions department and
have been informed that RTE will be acquiring the
licence for the next series. However, it will not be
    transmitted before next year.

    Kind regards.

Well RTE are doing really well with LOST and the Irish shows over on RTE One Haughey and Rip Off Republic and LOST is still standing up.

RTE must be very happy this summer.

Over the 4 irish stations 1million people are watching which is good.

Will be interesting to see how Setanta are doing.

Also RTE have the rights. See Coming This Fall thread in the Television forum

I just saw Ep 19: Deux Ex Machina, which I just found lying there in a ditch by the side of the road.

A bit predictable in the middle but overall an amazing episode especially right at the end.

Just looking at Sky Digital for Lost next week. It appears they will be showing the clip show, the episodes listed are "The journey so far" and "the greater good". So I presume that means it will be double eps from now on:

September 12th: The Journey So Far and The Greater Good.

September 19th: Born to Run and Exodus Part 1.

    September 26th: Exodus Parts 2 and 3.

Basically only 3 weeks of Lost left!

Crap... why are they bothering in showing 'The Journey'...?!

Should be 'The Greater Good' and 'Born To Run' next week along with all 3 parts of the Exodus trilogy the following week!

lol,ye,wouldnt mind a 3 hour finale! :D Im presuming they are showing it so they can keep showing doubles.

I thought that the "journey so far" was really crap, when I saw it way back I was hoping that there would be some interviews with characters but nothing like that.
I suppose it is a good idea for ABC & RTE in the fact that anyone who has missed the story so far or parts of it, you could have a small idea what is going on before watching the final 5 episodes.
I have watched all the episodes again so far on RTE but will certainly not be watching this again

When I brought that episode back from the ditch I was disappointed it wasn't something new. At least it made the radio voice Boone talked to a little easier to hear.

Everyonewas buzzing and talking about Lost last night in school today. I think the ratings are really going to go up over the last few weeks as evident with Outlaws and the intro of double episodes. Only 3 weeks left to the finalé.

I was looking at the dvd box set on amazon and it says that there are 24 episodes in the series, (not counting the Journey compilation) and ends with a double episode exodus 1 and 2. Whered did 3rd exodus episode mentioned on these boards come from?

Cheers (have avoided spilers so couldn't check it on tv tome etc).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

September 12th: The Journey(Clip Show) and The Greater Good
September 19th: Born to Run and Exodus Part 1
    September 26th: Exodus Parts 2 and 3.

Technically the finale is 3 parts long, but are not shown as a 3 hour finale,in any country as far as I know. Parts 2 and 3 are shown together.
