Boards Chess Tournament III!

Another attempt to organise a chess tournament.

I think maybe the reason the previous attempts failed was because it was left up to individuals to organise their games and nobody bothered.

So I propose a tournament where the games are played at a set time, and if you don't turn up your opponent gets a bye.

A round robin would be best.

8pm Sundays maybe? Everybody plays via yahoo! messenger maybe? Or if there is no history on that I suppose there would be the risk of muppets lying about results (The amount of people who abandon games they are losing online is ridiculous so I could see this happening too).

Come on do it it will be fun!

Yeah! Although that way I won't be able to tell myself that people who beat me are using bots :(

Some quiet pub or cafe would probably be the best. Dublin City Centre on a Sunday should have plenty of them. Although we will need to check it is ok with the management first, looking at that thread on AH!

I am in, for either a proper otb game in town, or online.

www.freechess.org have a good setup, and you can agree prior to a game that disconnection = forfeit.
